I still don't know who Iggy Azelea is but Eminem is a thug who isn't going away. He's been offending people for ages:

| I have to agree about Eminem being far more talented. All Iggy had to throw into the ring during her AMA performance tonight was slapping her p***y in front of all those people. Her "rapping" is hardly impressive so I guess she needs tk dk something additional. |
Love this casual misogyny. Her slapping her pussy has zippo to do with her talent as a rapper. She is the one with a number one this summer, not eminem, so I would say you're saying she "can't rap" is pure bullshit. |
Misogyny?? I'm a woman, thank you. We should not have to slap stuff to get attention. She has no discernable talent, but sorry your mediocre standards can't recognize that. |
] You can be a woman and have internalized misogyny. You are not exempt from supporting women's progress because you possess a vagina. |
x2. Thats exactly the issue. The problem is with Eminem's words. Anything Iggy does would pale in comparison unless she makes rape/murder threats, which she has not. And yet we are criticizing her instead. We live in a messed up world. |
You can still be a misogynist if you're a woman, you fucking moron. And calling Eminem "far more talented" has disqualified you from passing judgment on Iggy's rapping ability. |
|
Are you people really that dense? Eminem is in fact actually talented, although that's certainly no excuse for his violent lyrics, but that's two different things we are talking about.
And it's certainly true that Iggy has nothing going for her that would warrant an award AND she's classless. Why are these things so hard to grasp? |
|
Eminem has rapped about violence against women as well as his views against same-sex marriage.
Now he is rapping about raping another woman. In spite of all of this, he is still relevant. And rich. And winning awards. And making huge amounts of money. So obviously the majority of people out there are listening and buying his music. So I guess the ones on here who are ragging on him in this forum are in the minority. |

NP here, and an X-er, not a millennial. I like Iggy Azalea - her songs are catchy and she's doing some fun partnerships with other pop/rap artists. Who knows if she'll last - it's pop music, and a lot of artists have a short shelf-life. She's a big star right now, though.
I generally like Eminem - I think he's a talented guy who sometimes needs to filter himself so as not to say sh*t he shouldn't say. Rappers - any musicians, really - shouldn't be talking about raping women. It's just not ok. Iggy was right to call him out. |

Eminem is still fairly relevant (last year's Marshall Mathers 2 went double platinum in the US, his last six albums since 2000 have hit #1 in the US and multiple countries -- and somewhat unusual for a rap artist, have jumped out of the Anglosphere and become hits in continental Europe).
Iggy Azalea's album didn't even hit #1 in the US and hasn't even made gold status. "Fancy" was #1 but "Black Widow" and "Problems" didn't ... her collaboration w/ J-Lo "Booty" barely hit the top *20*. So it's no question who is bigger commercially, Iggy at her peak hasn't even matched Eminem's recent success, much less sustained it over 15+ years. With that said, it's still kinda sad that people revel in their ignorance; I'm 38, a guy, and a Fredneck, and I have at least *heard* of her and have listened to "Problems" and "Fancy." And, no doubt Eminem is a fucking misogynist, even if it's just an act he needs to be called on it. |
