I regret buying into Louis Vuitton...

A lot of LVs sold in the US are made in the US in order to keep up with the demand. I know that 3 out of my 4 bags were made here. That said, LV recently moved away from putting the Made In USA stamp on the US bags because people didn't want Made in USA on their LVs and were specifically seeking out the Made in France ones. Out of sight out of mind, I have a French purse, y'all!

People are silly -they think made in France is equivalent of taste and quality
Those times are long gone
Globalization ,people

When I bought it, I was told that it was a genuine bag but the designer's QC department rejected it because of a very minor imperfection that most people would not even notice. The sales rep showed me what it was otherwise I would not have known. It did cost more than the usual fake bags but still a fraction of a genuine one.

Most of the price of these designer bags is for the status of owning it. Sure the quality is better but if the very same bag were sold without the designer insignia it would not have the cache of owning a designer bag.

The fake bags made from inferior materials to make up for the margins
There is no way counterfeiters can compete with genuine manufactures
So the have to cut corners

And the use child labor...
And they don't follow environmental laws

Another words-stop buying fakes!

Some are inferior but others are not.

Besides, the one I own is actually genuine but it has a marginal imperfection that 99% of people would never even notice. But it was rejected for QC reasons. I got it for 10% of what a perfect product would have cost in China.

Almost everything is made in China or Romania or some other countries these days
And soon everything will be made in Africa
Because it's even cheaper for companies then China

You do know that they have exact same equipment and supervised accordingly?

You think italian (French ) worker does better job then chineese?

Most Chinese products are crappy quality. Chinese factories initially produce decent manufactured goods and then gradually skimp on quality and quality control in order to maximize their profits. They suck.

Goods made in Europe or the US have better quality control.

Have you been to China? I went to China and got several things while over there, I had a coat made, bought two purses, and an entire suitcase of new clothes.

You statment lumping all chinese factories into one giant pot is idiotic. China is huge. Some of their stuff is crap. Some of their stuff is amazing.

Like some of the posts on DCUM are full of shit and some are really helpful.

In other words?

You realize of course the US also doesn't follow many of the EU suggested environmental laws, do you boycott products made here?

Yes...American products are so amazing.

Our cars are....wait, no.

Our electronics are...wait, no.

Our....hmmm.....What exactly does the US make again?

I think the older LV bags hold up much better. The new ones have terrible quality! My mom got one a year ago and it looks 15 years old.

I have a couple Chanel flaps and also notice that they are not made well. They are goregous but the craftsmanship is lacking (i.e. gluing leather rather than stitching).

Now my Hermes bags are amazing. I seriously do not want to buy another bag other than H...they are hand made and have great attention to detail. Unless you are getting one of the "skunk smelling" leathers. But they do exchange those, lol!

A lot of things made today everywhere are poorer in quality than 20 or so years ago. It's a lot about speed and convenience, and superficially looking good, but dig deeper, and the quality sucks.

British brand, you moron.

Despite where they may be made, the LV brand has been completely diluted and is practically trashy now. I see spoiled children carrying real LV bags and therefor the brand just seem juvenile to me now. I would rather spend my money on something practical and inconspicuous.

You paid for a name, not quality. Don't be confused.

I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I bought mine 2011-2013.

Does Gucci do this too? I feel the quality of my wallet and bag is subpar. Purchased around 2011.

They have higher standards at least in the industry where my DH works

He said he can always identify product made in USA vs China
USA product usually made crappy

Except for the, you know, poisonous dog treats they've been sending over here.

Not to get too far off-track - but there have been plenty of poison scares in the US, too. Remember when people died from eating spinach? Made in the USA, made in Europe - these are nice marketing tools. I don't believe they actually tell us much about quality.

The spinach was tainted with salmonella, not poison, through an accidental contamination. The melamine added to the food was intentionally added to boost profit. Big difference.
