I am flying this week and planning to do the same

I am liking idea about latex gloves or I can bring the yellow rubber gloves
But I am not sure how to take them off properly without touching?

Not to be a downer, I always do use the wipes, but I don't think they would kill Ebola if that's what you are worried about.

The chances of Ebola being on my tray table are slim (at least that's what I keep telling myself). I'm more worried about someone in my family picking up another germ and getting sick.

If someone is getting Ebola while in a containment suit, and catch it while disrobing, if your tray is contaminated you are not doing anything to stop it.

But if just avoiding run of mill germs, if your are that sensitive you should probably not travel

Just curious - so you do this everywhere you go? Cabs, public restrooms, public transit, movie theatres? I don't understand why people think planes are the dirtiest places and contain the dirtiest things. I always though the dirtiesy thing people can in consistent conact with was money (both paper and change, but mostly the paper bills).

I just did a POrtland to London jaunt and wiped everything down with wet wipes. No one batted an eye since they're scent free. I didn't get so much as a sniffle during my trip which is a first. I didn't go nuts w/ hand sanitizer or anything during the trip. On the way home I flew through Amsterdam and the tray and seats were wet when I got on...not sure if they had just been cleaned or if something spilled on a previous flight so I cleaned them to be sure. The flight to London was at most half full so the bathrooms didn't get very grungy and I had an emergency row to my self so I wiped down the seat next to me as well.

Obviously on a long flight avoiding the bathroom isn't optional and I didn't find them to be all that bad.I wouldn't use clorox wipes since they have a strong scent and could also ruin your clothes if you come into contact with them. Use wet wipes or similar w/o the bleach.

I have sometimes done this with a clorox wipe but usually forget to pack them. I always wonder whether wiping the table with an antibacterial wipe or baby wipe or facial wipe actually reduces germs. Does it just spread everything around? I still do it.

I was wiping down all surfaces in our group of three seats when I happened to glance across the aisle to see the people in my row staring at me. This was before Ebola broke out.

Since you sit on the plane for quite a while and don't have a chance to wash your hands before eating or touching your face and eye it does make sense to wipe down the tray and armrest to avoid getting sick. Other places (cabs metro touching money) it is easier to wait to expose yourself until after you wash your hands. I think I will start wiping down my area when traveling. I often get sick after traveling on a plane maybe this would help.
