It's not that she's fat ( I consider her overweight not fat) it's that she purposely looks as sloppy as she can. Just because she's not a stick doesn't mean she can't look put together.

+1. She looks gross, and that does not = fat.

I think she's a great writer. I have only seen Girls a few times but I've read her pieces in the New Yorker and she has a really good voice and interesting observations. I'm looking forward to reading her book.

She's making a point about things but I think many of you are missing it.

Yes I agree. I get she can wear whatever she wants but 99% of what she wears and how she does her hair and everything makes me cringe.

My impression is that she's styling herself in a certain way to make a point. She's being provocative and trying to challenge society's narrow ideas about attractiveness and sexuality.

The problem is the whole thing feels unbelievably juvenile to me. Like the girl in high school who wore her extra-odd clothes and haircut (or hair color) as a badge of honor, making of show of being "deep" or a bit dark or just plain not like everyone else. Fine when you're 15, but I'd say Lena should have a bit more finesse at this point.

Oddly enough, I'm sympathetic to her cause and I probably share her point of view on most issues. I couldn't care less about her weight -- in fact, I secretly cheer a little more for actresses who are NOT obviously anorexic. But her theatrics about it all are just too much for me.

Is the idea that sexy people encourage us to vote? Would Angelina Jolie make you rush to the polls? Ryan Gosling?

A clever catchphrase makes ME more likely to vote.

She's very unattractive. It's not her weight, it's the entire package.

Her style of dress is similar for both .

Some folks are just plain unattractive. So they emphasize other things, like personality and humor. Take out the humor and personality and that describes the vast majority of people on this blog, I would imagine.

That's why we're not on TV. People like to look at attractive people.

A million times over.

yep.

I do too. It does seem like she wears clothes that are intentionally unflattering though. It's odd. The outfit on the right would look bad on anyone over 3 years old.

I have noticed the same. In my opinion, she has really bad taste in clothes. She was on The Daily Show the other night and I was distracted by her dress. Which is a shame because it takes away from what she is saying. In a way, if you want to be heard, you should not be seen as you want people to focus on your words.

I'm on the older end of the millennials so it really doesn't apply to me as much, but now all the olds are looking at that show and thinking, "that's how all the 30 and under set is like." UGHHHH!

Wah, wah, wah...

It could be worse. You could be a Gen Xer and be told that "American Psycho" and "Less than Zero" define your generation.

Wait, I thought it was the Breakfast Club? Personally my life is more like a John Hughes movie.

Bullshit. Tell that to Tracey Morgan, Jack McBrayer, Bobby Moynihan, John Cryer, John Goodman, or any of THOUSANDS of men on TV who aren't required to be fuckable 24/7.

Meh. She dresses in really, really unflattering clothes- my guess is that's because she personally likes whatever she is putting on more than she cares about looking good/ flattering herself. I think its the exact same thing as the olsen twins actually. It doesn't annoy me, but its definitely not my style!
