Boy OP, you sound like a basket of joy! ![]() |
You don't know much about alcoholism. An alcoholic cannot reduce. |
I don't get how "tightwad" is an applicable epithet for OP. |
Interesting...I have actually lost friends (or rather I don't get invited to parties as much) because I have stopped drinking socially. I was one of those "life of the party drinkers", and now that I don't drink I'm more mellow. I have actually stopped going to drinking events, like wine tours, party buses, etc. I just prefer not to be around a bunch of drunks. I can still go to a party and have a good conversation without the alcohol, but I think the people I use to hang with no longer think I'm fun. I have accepted that, and now search out people that are non-drinkers. I do miss my "friends" though sometimes. |
What kind of adult goes on party buses? |
Like as in tightly wound, buttocks clenched and pearls clutched. |
It was for a bachelorette party. |
Ok, I associate "tightwad" with someone being cheap and I couldn't figure out how OP said anything that would suggest he/she is cheap. |
I get it. What would you suggest? ![]() |
I don't need alcohol to "enjoy" life. But please don't tell me, OP, that my occasional glass of Chardonnay is contributing to "social evils" and "disease." Gimme a break. It's Friday evening and I'm off to unwind with some booze.
Adios. |
I hate being around drunk adults and go out of my way to avoid social situations where drinking is pushed. There is something disgusting about folks over the age of 40 getting crap faced. I don't have a problem with a glass of wine or a beer but drunks... ugh.
I was debbie downer and judgy judy rolled into one when my kids little league team got tickets to a Nats game together and half of the parents got plastered at the stadium. Plastered as in shit faced. Yes, they all drove home themselves with their kids in their cars. After that some of them started get soused before our practices. It was easy to tell who had the serious drinking problems. The primary booze pusher a fitness guru too. Disgusting. |
Drinking being "pushed?" What adults out of their 20's actually do this? In that case the problem is not that alcohol is being served, it's that the people at the party are asshats that you shouldn't be hanging out with anyway. |
So it was one time and presumably a good friend. Suck it up! Some people are unreal. |
I didn't even read OP's original post, but the answer is YES. |
