What the hell is wrong with you??

I am so sick of service providers treating you like they are doing you a favor. You were thoughtful enough to call and say you would be late and paid for the work they performed. You don't owe them anything, Though this salon was convenient I am sure it is not the only one close by.

The only way I would reach out to the manager is IF you love the stylist, he/she was not upset that you were late and your REALLY think the service is worth all the hassle.

I agree with the bolded part. It appears that it was the receptionist that was rude, not your stylist. I would let your stylist know what happened so she can address it with the manager as well.

Good for you, OP. I'm such a wimp that I would have just left and never come back. You were not out of line, they were. They aren't very organized and have an obnoxious receptionist. Find a new place. Let it go.

This person is a troll. Please don't respond to posts like this, PP. It just encourages trolls to post more stuff like this. Ignore, ignore, ignore.

I had a 1 pm appt. across the street from my office at my regular hair salon to get a glaze. (Takes 15 minutes, they put it on, rinse, and I skip the blow dry and leave with it wet.) I had a meeting running late today, and called the salon to let them know I wouldn't be there until 1:30. The woman on the phone was really snippy, and said, "Well, we normally would charge for what is a missed appt., but will let it slide just this once." I get the policy, and understood.

I arrive, and they don't see me until 2 pm. Again, cool as I was late. But as I was leaving at 2:20, she scolded me publically, saying next time I would have to pay for two appointments as I was late.

Here's the thing, last month I showed up for a noon appointment, and wasn't seen until 12:50. So I was thinking about this, and busted out with, "So you were going to charge me today? Should I have charged YOU guys for my time last month, when I had to wait? I won't be coming back."

And I am always worked in between other people.

Was I in the wrong? How would you have handled this? (Sorry I am long winded.)

If the service isn't that great and you go there just because it's close, I wouldn't sweat it and I wouldn't return. The receptionist called you out in public over what's really a triviality, you shot back.

If the stylist was fine and it was the receptionist that was a problem, then talk to the stylist and the owner/manager and see what happens.

You had me at getting a hair glaze. Dafuq is wrong with you.

OP, you were in the right.

If there is one thing I can not stand, it is pissy service people. If I am nice to you, you be nice to me, dig? If I obviously came here for your service, you do it, and shut it. I don't need your commentary.

I get it, if someone is cold and demanding, that is the time for the service people to dig in their heels. But too often, it seems they get it wrong, and are pissy to the nice customers - the wrong customers!

You were in the right. You are (were) a paying customer. You tried to be nice, and they snipped right back. Unacceptable.

I had this happen to me, when a parent died, and I needed my hair done. Can you imagine? Some people have no soul. And no brain! I guess that's why they are there. But I digress.

I would Yelp them just to make a point. After all, all anyone believes in is the negative reviews, anyway. The positive reviews are usually written by friends.

Get 'em, OP!

Well, you had me until the bolded. Then I decided you're an uppity bitch who probably deserves poor treatment.

Clearly you have never owned a business. No surprise there.

If that's how they treat a paying customer, get a new salon.

Yeah I'm not the person who bit the head off of a receptionist.

What??? How did OP 'bit the head off of a receptionist?' Sensitive much?

You are correct. No guilt

I would be angry that the policy is one-sided. You can't be late but they can make you wait for 1/2 hour on more than one occasion? Plus, you called. I would have pointed that out. I would also call the manager.

Doctors and dentists offices are usually also one sided.
