Hitler, Sandusky and the Penn State culture walked into a bar.... |
Lest we forget Ted Kaczynski graduated from Harvard University in 1962, at age 20, and later taught at Berkeley. Every school has its flakes. |
Unable to make the 50th reunion for Harvard University's Class of 1962 on Wednesday, Ted Kaczynski, who is serving life in prison after being convicted as the Unabomber, still submitted an entry for the alumni report:
Theodore John Kaczynski Home address: No. 04475-046, US Penitentiary- Max, P.O. Box 8500, Florence, CO 8126-8500. Occupation: Prisoner House/Dorm: Eliot Degrees: AB '62; MA, Univ. of Michigan '65; PhD, ibid. '67. Publications: Technology Slavery (Feral House, 2010). Awards: Eight life sentences, issued by the United States District Court for Eastern District of California, 1998. |
Did Ted perpetrate his crimes at Harvard against minors whom he was in a trust relationship over more than a decade witnessed by Harvard personnel, reported to Harvard personnel and ignored by Harvard administration for the greater good of the godlike football coach and football program? So no a "every school has its flakes" scenario. To try to diminish the heinous crimes is offensive. |
to try to diminish the heinous crimes is offensive - you do realize that the Unabomber killed people don't you? While at Harvard, Kaczynski was among the twenty-two Harvard undergraduates used as guinea pigs in ethically questionable experiments conducted by Harvard Prof. Henry Murray. In the experiment each student received a code name. Kaczynski was given the code name "Lawful". Among other purposes, Murray's experiments were focused on measuring people's reactions under extreme stress. The unwitting undergraduates were submitted to what Murray himself called "vehement, sweeping and personally abusive" attacks. Assaults to their egos, cherished ideas and beliefs were the tools used to cause high levels of stress and distress. These experiments were conducted at Harvard University from the fall of 1959 through the spring of 1962 --- now do you REALLY want to go THERE? I didn't think so. |

Great you both win. But so not an "every school has its flakes" scenario that a school can simply put "in its rear-view mirror." Ridiculous. |
It’s not just those two schools – most schools have a skeleton or two in the closet. In the psychological experiment realm alone we have the 44 colleges and universities that participated in project MKUltra, and other unethical experiments conducted at Yale (Milgram experiment), Stanford (Prison Experiment), Columbia, Johns Hopkins (Albert B.), Wisconsin and Swarthmore.
Glass House, Stones . . . Better to focus on the good that universities do and move on |
Do you feel the same way about anyone who graduated from a Catholic college? |
Let's not forget Ted was a volunteer for CIA mind-control experiments at Harvard. |
I don't recall catholic students rioting over any punishment given to pedophiles , enablers or the entire church. Or any students chanting " we love you Father pedophile enabler" " we miss you Father pedophile enabler"! "Put back up Father pedophile enablers statue!" A new level of gross. |
So Penn State enthusiasts have decided that they're ready to put the whole S scandal "in the rearwiev mirror" and "move on"? Don't think it works that way. |
Consent and informed consent are two different things. What Harvard did was inexcusable. |
At least for some people who never seem to move on. |
I have to say this thread has dissolved really quickly. Is there nothing else to say except to discuss Ted K. and Penn State. Penn State. Again? Let them rot quietly.
OK, is Columbia really equivalent to Stanford? And Yale better than Stanford? Sorry USNEWS. You suck. |
