Oh yes, that episode with "The Wretched" concert in Baltimore was one of the best. Loved Claire's response. The best shows were when the kids got in trouble.

Whew, I was scared for Vanessa in that episode.

Speaking of Vanessa, Cliff and Claire were much tougher on her when she messed up. Denise and Theo were often screwing up and the parents barely raised their voices. When Vanessa disobeyed they would raise hell. (It's been a long summer with too much TV)

Very true! Maybe because Denise and Theo very blasé about things and their "Crimes" weren't as bad as things Vanessa would do. I do recall that episode where Theo and his friends were late and Claire was determined to get to the bottom of what happened.

Lol Claire put on a mock trial to find out what Theo had done. I so wanted them as my parents growing up.

Yes she did. She was married to Lenny Kravitz and now Jason Mamoa. Yum

The movie was Angel Heart. And, it was a small scene but it got rid of her good girl image

I remember those big azz door knocker earrings that Pam wore in the opening dance sequence. Jumping WAY back, I found Sondra as annoying as hell---SHE was an add-in, she wasn't in the first few episodes, Claire and Cliff even talk about their FOUR children and then along comes Sondra home from college.

I'm with you! I remember Olivia (and her Navy dad), as well as The Wretched in Baltimore episode (classic!). But I have no idea who Pam is.

I'm friends with him on FB. Joseph C. Philips, a rare, black conservative. He opened a chicken wing joint in LA, but has since sold it.

But to answer OP's question: Vanessa's hair. I hated that mega-flat top.

Loved the final episode!
I had some family asking for daughter's dance recital tickets at the last minute, and I kept thinking about Theo and Dr Huxtable going through the same thing.

I found Olivia totally annoying.

It would have been better if Claire had just gotten pregnant and had an additional kid.

That would have been a teachable moment about women in their 40s and "oops" babies.

(Cosby loved to teach lessons, after all.)

But the show needed a cute little girl after Rudy grew up, and it would have taken 3 years for a new one to be cute. They didn't have time for 3 years of infant/toddler stories.

When Willie and Nelson were born. WILLIE AND NELSON.

The Wretched in Baltimore was the only Vanessa-centric episode worth a damn. Theo forever!

At SAMs last week I saw a make your own pudding pops kit. I didn't buy it because my husband convinced me they would never be the same as real pudding pops RIP.

Curious to know what people think about Rudy's friend Peter. He was a sweet kid. Strange, uncomfortable dynamic between Cliff Huxtable and Peter, though.

Ok first off it was Winnie (as in Mandela) not Willie

Second, what about the episodes where Vanessa got drunk and the episode where she snuck off late with her boyfriend?? Vanessa owned that show in that era.

You are totally right about Winnie. Oops. But I hated Vanessa. So whiny. I can't get on board with her episodes.

Remember BUD??

This thread makes me remember just one thing: Rudy, at the bottom of the stairs, shouting, "bAY-bAYYY --- bAY-bAYYY"

I liked Sondra on the show. Her character was pretty square, but she and Elvin played well off of each other. They had some funny moments, living in that crappy apartment. And she goes down in history as the one child to tell off Claire in the episode where Claire takes the twins all over town while Sondra was sick.

This alone is worth the price of admission. I'm sorry I missed that episode.
