Why is it not OK to be hungry?

Can you get some food from a food pantry?

That's more for people who are homeless and/or need a one time fix. We go through this each week.

There must be some organizations that can help you. DCUMers please chime in if you can help.

Go to your local Churche and ask about the Food Pantry. They usually have a pantry set up to help local families.

How much more $/food would you need per week/month to give you some breathing room?

I get really bitchy when I'm hungry.

I was correcting my son, who eats a ton of food. He just kept eating, and I told him enough. He said that he likes to feel full. I then told him that if he could not get used to a little hunger or even real hunger, he would be in trouble later. That full feeling all the time is a recipe for obesity.
My friend told me, "don't you know? You never want to be hungry! A hungry body is an obese body"????
What is this all about.
I grew up having to wait until my mother fed us and that often meant being hungry. I have a job that does not allow food on site and no access to food until your shift is up. So I am often hungry. I am not obese.
BTW, my son is not obese yet.

I feel like i'm reading this differently. What happened to the "not full feeling" and "not hungry" state of being (i.e, the state that I spend most of the day in) If I feel "full" I feel like I'm over eating and uncomfortable. But perhaps i'm reading too much into the how the phrases are being defined.

Because if I'm hungry, I have low energy and can't work or work out, and I get cranky and snappish?

It fluctuates from week to week depending on my income. Sometimes $30 sometimes $50 sometimes we're not short at all.

There's nothing wrong at all with feeling hunger. Its completely biologically normal. Feeling full all the time is not.

Where do you live? I am a terrible cook and we have to eat out a LOT. If you live near me we could work something out, You cook, I buy.

I am near the Vienna Metro station. You?

I was your daughter growing up. I have to watch what I eat now because i tend to severely over eat. I think I just feel so happy full because I often had to gorge when I could. I've managed to stay a normal weight, but I'm concious as to why I eat until I'm sick full.

We don't have a lot of extra $, but there might be a way I could help you for the next month or so. I got points on my credit card applied toward a gift card, and I could give/send that to you. Let me know if I can help.

I grew up poor and experienced real hunger from not having enough food. I would go to school for the entire day without food, not by choice. It was truly awful.

It makes me feel ill to go too long without eating during the day. I get irritable and dizzy if it's more than 4 hours or so, that's just how I am. I eat to satiation, but not fullness. So I eat (very) often. It's a body chemistry thing for some.

I think it's good to be a little hungry. So many people eat just to eat.

I think you should be full at the end of a meal, but not to the point of discomfort. But I think that it's good to go into meals hungry - isn't that the point? My daughter often asks me for a snack 30 minutes before we are set to eat dinner and it drives me crazy - I tell her, "yes, you are SUPPOSED to be hungry right now, because we are having dinner soon."

I actually eat quite a few times a day, mostly healthy stuff. A breakfast bar on the way to work to tide myself over until I get there, when I have my oatmeal. Then I have some yogurt w/ berries. Then lunch a couple of hours later. In the afternoon I'll snack on carrots and grapes and sometimes cheese/lunch meat if I need protein. I'll have dinner a few hours later. I have a fairly high metabolism from working out daily (often intensely) and have trouble concentrating if I am hungry. I'm a normal/lean weight.
