| I'm not bothered by the loud noises. It's the fact that all these untrained yokels were setting off enormous fireworks in our cul de sac much too close to our cars and houses that scared me. I now dread July 4th every year. |
| I live in LA and the fireworks went on all night. Fireworks are actually illegal in LA county and we are having an extreme drought, so it really pissed me off when my neighbours were setting off the stupid firecrackers. I live in a very ethnic neighbourhood and Mexicans set off firecrackers for every freaking holiday, so I'm constantly afraid my condo is going to light in fire. |
| Ha 11:22 I was going to post at least this isn't Mexico! OP, I sympathize, but it's always been like this. It didn't bother me when my son was little. Not sure what you were expecting. |
When I lived in Columbia heights this was true. |
THIS! If people want to blow off their fingers I guess that's their business, but please don't burn my house down. Thanks. |
Yep. PP, come to NE DC. It lasts all damn summer. |

[quote=Anonymous]People who are idiotic enough to set off their own fireworks (of the variety that are loud enough to bother neighbors) are not likely to think about or care about things like reasonable time limits.
There were just a bunch set if in my neighborhood and tubs nearly 1 am. So aggravating. Luckily my kids slept through them. At least it's a weekend tomorrow. This x1000. |
| Gentifiers please don't move into neighborhoods and have complaints. |
I'm with you, PP. Unfortunately, I'm with you TONIGHT, too, because the yokels in my area are setting them off again. Just started at 9:30 pm. Our new dog is so far unfazed (as opposed to last night, when she was freaking the hell out). Remind me, what does July 5th celebrate our independence from? |
| In SE and they are still setting them off. Roman candles as well. |
|
I live downtown, they went until 4am last night and it's 10pm and still going.
It's one weekend a year...let people celebrate the birth of our country. Although, my city kid sleeps through it. |
I've been living in DC for 25 years. |
I'm at 14 and Randolph NW and I heard them going until 1 am as well. |
|
When you let your neighbors tell you to stop doing things with your kids that annoy them and you stop doing them.
Yes, I have young kids, but I also live in the real world where we make compromises. I'll ignore the things that you do that annoy me if you ignore the things that I do that annoy you. Amazing, huh? |
| The Mexicans in my LA neighborhood are still setting of fireworks. Aside from the noise, it's just so stupid during this awful drought. Ghetto people. |
