You have a monitor for all three of them? Your kids are old enough to get up and walk out the back door, light a match, drown in a tub, drink Drano, etc. No, you may not do this! |
I'd really only be nervous about the 3 yo wandering the house. I'd have no problem leaving the 5 and 7 year old with a monitor in hand. |
But the kids are in bed sleeping . And who's to say she wouldn't come back every 10 minutes or so? |
| Yes- if you can hang out on their front porch or where you can see their house. Make sure your front door is locked. Personally, I would only do it if they are still in crib or if you can lock them in their safe bedroom. |

Oldest is 7 and you have a monitor? I totally would. You would hear if anything happened in the house, and your 7 year old would call out to you anyway if he/she or either sibling needed something.
Guess I'm the lone voice of dissent here, so you should probably ignore my opinion. But when I was quite young (somewhere between 3 and 7) my parent would do something similar whenever we were on vacation -- they would leave a monitor in the hotel room for me and my younger brother then head down to the lobby restaurant for dinner. Seemed to work out fine. If you're just across the street you're barely any further from the kids than if you were downstairs in the house -- maybe 90 seconds at most if you ran, which you would in an emergency. |
| Yes this is totally fine. |
3 year olds wake up. I've got one and he gets up every night t go to the bathroom some time before midnight. And a 3 year old can do a lot in 10 minutes being left alone. Mine can unlock the doors and leave. |
| I would if I needed to get out. I'd check in every 30 min. |
| Wow this is surprising. We have a baby; sometimes we put her down in the crib and join the neighbors in the street or for a drink in the house. Video monitor on, doors locked, no big deal. We are literally 30 feet away. |
| my neighbor comes over all the time. she lives 4 doors done. stays for hours, no monitor (i woudn't but she does) |
We have done the same. Go enjoy yourself! Honestly, you could be asleep in your own bed and be less attentive. I think with doors locked, a monitor and being within eye shot of your house it's really okay. |
| Totally fine. I would and have done this myself. Kids are 7, 7 and 4. |
Not PP but no, she's not. I did it and lots of people I know did too. Kid home (either next door or across street), dogs with her, house locked, monitor on and with me and I could see the house the entire time. |
Yes she is |
| Is this the same OP who just moved into a neighborhood where his/her neighbors sent OP a note stating they are having a last big party before they move? |
