Okay to leave sleeping kid to go to neighbors house?

Are you people serious? It's across the street. Yes, it's fine.

I would say that across the street is just too far.

Even if I have the monitor?

If you have a monitor, then it would depend on their ages since it is only across the street and your house is visible. If your kids are older, then it would probably be OK since you will be monitoring and probably watching the house and could also let a few people know this and they could help monitor, too.

I did it once. Not a party, but a women's church tea next door, not really a rowdy group. DC was 4 months old and could roll. Her crib was empty. I had the monitor with me, but her room was 20' from my neighbors deck so I could actually hear her when she woke up. I checked on her every 10 minutes or so.

I would not do this for a party at night where I couldn't see the house the whole time.

Why not just bring the kid over and let him sleep in a bedroom upstairs? Don't leave him alone. That's just irresponsible and idiotic.

Uh, no.

Tag-teaming with the spouse is a good idea.

Kids are 3, 5 7.

I see an overwhelming response of "no". I guess i am more laid back, since I don't think it is really a big deal, but have enough worry that I thought to put it out to the DCUM world.

I just don't want to be judged by neighbors.

No, just pay extra for the drug dealer to deliver to your house

I would. *shrug*

Technically, I think it would probably be fine since you'd have a working monitor, but you will obviously be judged by some. We have the same dilemma sometimes, since we often play games with our across the street neighbors (we live on a guarded military compound, so virtually no chance of kidnappers), but we still always hire a sitter. We're 100 feet away with a functioning monitor, but still...we get the sitter. But you are not a horrible parent.

OP here...so what could happen? We live in a good, safe neighborhood.

If it was me, I would already be across the street with my monitor.

I would apply the "would I be arrested if caught?" test.
