Am I the only parent who would not flip out over this or think it was "cute"?

How is this not OP's business when it's happening in a public place? If people need privacy, they should get a room.

Early to ripe, early to rot.

No.

I am not.

Ask Jeff.

I am not PP, but your obsession with these kids (his hand was here and then there) does sound a little pervy to me.

Well, you are looking at it through your own filter.

I was in the pool, next to these kids, and looking at it through the filter of a mom with kids of similar ages, slightly older and slightly younger.

Quite frankly, I was incredulous by their behavior, shocked that it was so open, and bothered by it the next day. Perhaps I am a prude, but I would not be a happy mom if I saw my similar aged kid behaving like that, whether they were the boy or the girl.

And if it were my kid, as I posted before, I would have been perfectly okay with another adult telling him to knock it off. I didn't say anything though, because one, I was a bit shocked, and two, I thought that perhaps the parents might be okay with their pre-teen children acting like high school young adults. That is why I posted here.

You're telling me that if you saw this you would have looked away and not thought twice about it? Bet you would have been gossiping with all your mommy (or daddy) friends about it. It's not normal behavior and you know it.

I was making out with a "boyfriend" in 5th grade, because that's what the "cool" kids did. Seriously, we were actually on the bed heavily making out. I think it came from wanting to be older, like big brother or sister who seemed so mature and uber cool when you are 10 or 11.
It was totally inappropriate, but everyone was doing it. Some of these kids lost their virginity by age 12, one was 11! I am not kidding.

My 11 year old is a lot taller than some 13/14 year kids are. My son looks like an 11 year old but there are older kids that look younger/smaller than he does. So those kids may not have been 10...

That said, what you are describing would be inappropriate behavior for 13/14 year kids, too. Definitely not "cute".

It's a neighborhood pool, you would expect that someone there would know these kids and say something to them.

I am finding this very difficult to believe.

I found it hard to believe too.

You missed the point. She called you out as a liar.

BTW, who declared it cute, OP? That part isn't clear to anyone.

I promise you that you have given this waaaaay more thought and anquish than they did.

Assuming this actually happened. Which it did not.

Believe what you want.

I saw it happening.

But who, precisely, called it "cute?" That's in your subject line, with quotations and all. Who said that?

Food for thought.

Thanks for posting.

Likely it was a similar type thing.
