| The excessive binge drinking at college has made it a toxic environment for both males and females. It is far from the ideal of what living away at college should be, a place to mature and grow and learn. The binge drinking should make parents really think about what they are spending their money on. The excessive binge drinking is what puts females at risk. Obama's initiative to stop sexual assault on college campuses will fail unless he also stops binge drinking. |

Well sure. It's not about "this is not a good school for a girl" but more "this particular school is not right for my particular girl."
If a college is so bad that I wouldn't let my daughter go there, then I wouldn't give them money at all, even for my son. |
| By the time your kids are college age do you really imagine you will "let" them go somewhere? Or stop them from going to a particular school? What big they say "big middle finger to you, helicopter parent, I am going to xyz or not going to college at all"? |
I have one kid in grad school and one in college. Damn straight I was in control of which college they went to. I have the money, not them. I guided them towards schools I thought they would be successful at and enjoy (and be safe at, obviously). An acquaintance of mine didn't want her DD to go to some college she was super gung-ho on, so while they were visiting the school my friend told her DD she saw mice in the bathrooms to make her not want to go there anymore. |
| Lame parenting. And raising an adult scared of mice - that's particularly impressive. |
| Any heavily greek schools. |

If "BroBible" considers it a solid choice, it's crossed off my DD's list:

When I was in law school, a first year law student called the campus police because she had a mouse in her off campus apartment. She was very indignant because they wouldn't come and remove it for her.
|
| Here's what's lame: trusting an 18 year old high school student with a $100-250K investment. |
|
If "BroBible" considers it a solid choice, AND it has a major/program that's a good fit for my son, I'd gladly send him.
He would make sure he worked hard enough to be a continuing student! I'd have no concern that he'd be unhappy and drop-out. |
|
^ and I'd send my daughter if she thought she wanted the same schools. Most young ladies can take care of themselves.
