Well, I'll sign, but in the petition he isn't covering both of my concerns as he has in his comments. Yes, I want matter of right schools. But my neighborhood will be shafted by Option B, and the petition will offer my community no protection without the promise that neighborhoods will not be reassigned to weaker schools than the ones they have supported for decades.

Tell him that, then. This may be his big issue.

Also- from what I read he's prefer not to enact any of these reforms without a lot of further discussion and study. So you may be ok.

And of course, he's only talking about elementary schools here. No-- this is a start but not good enough. If he's interested in looking out for middle income families who have mortgaged our eyeballs to afford modest condos zoned for good schools, only to find our children might be barred from those schools and that children are likely to disappear from our neighborhood altogether if the slate of matter of right schools either evaporates or changes, he'll have to oppose all of the DME's schemes.
