I think what PP was trying to say is that she feels like 140k is comfortable, and is perplexed by how some make 150+ and feel poor. |
|
Yep. I make $58K, no child support (supposed to get about $8500/yr).
Fiance used to make about the same, but has been laid off for several months and now brings in about $20K/yr. It sucks. |

Present!
$99K...Family of 3....it sucks. |
| $95K...DH is currently unemployed and we have a toddler. |
| 95K here - SAHM and live in McLean - we definitely penny-pinch compared to our neighbors, but it can be done! |
Another single mom here making in the 80s. |
why curious. is this your circumstance or are you wondering how we do it? |
Welcome, hon! Charles Villageish. I love this dirty little town. |
Yes, I make less than that combined. I'm looking to have kids in the future. So I'm concerned. |
| How do you people survive, DH and I make almost 200k, and I feel like it's not enough, and we don't have kids. |
| lucky if I make 30K in a year |

| Are most of you PPs in single-income or dual-income households? We make 160K but that's with two incomes, and we have to pay for daycare for three (surprise, twins!). So in the end I think we're not much better off for the time being than a one-income family that makes less than 100K. I don't think our situation compares at all to one-income families that make 160K. Though once they're all out of daycare things should improve. |
I'll add that we are a family of 4. I had to quit to SAH with special needs child, but even when I worked full time (teacher) we still were under 100K and were paying for daycare. |
PP above you here. Ok now I feel bad complaining. We do appreciate how lucky we are to have 160K and to see the light at the end of the tunnel when daycare expenses end. |
