Farrow and Ball has some gorgeous colors and great texture to the paint. |
Donald Kaufman has every shade of gray one could imagine. |
I think it must be because people like to complain about a house not being perfect for what is deemed in style for today. It cracks me up when I read the home buying threads---people want top of the line appliances, fully renovated, carpet and paint to their taste, move in ready, and inexpensive. I think people just have unrealistic expectations. |
When you are paying 500k for a shit shack you expect more. |
Just ignore the "granite is dated" poster - she pops up in every thread about kitchens. |
Actually, I think people were assuming OP hadn't actually installed the counters yet and still had time to change her mind. |
Actually, there are several of us. |
I was assuming they were already installed if she's considering paint. |
Yes ignorance does exist outside the boundaries of a single person. |
Granite is still fine, but is starting to look dated to me - especially polished and super common varieties. |
Same situation here. We used an "antique white" color in the kitchen and family room and then installed a more colorful backsplash tile to liven things up a little. I would have preferred a light sage green, but didn't want that in my living room as well (and I couldn't use different paint colors because of the open layout).
Unfortunately, I agree about the black countertops. I LOVE the way they look when they are clean, but that's only for about 5 minutes after I clean them. ![]() |
NP, and I agree that polished granite is dated. Those who claim otherwise are in denial. Honed granite, quartz, marble and soapstone are all much more current looks.
With that said, I wouldn't go ripping out a good granite countertop unless I had some other good reason to do so. It's still a hundred times better than laminate. |
