HHI 110K

2002 civic - commuter car, will become DC's car
2011 Highlander - kid /hauling gear car

HHI $230k
We have 1 car that cost $25k new, however it was a wedding present (we paid for the whole wedding ourselves and the gift was unexpected)

The gift car replaced a 12 yr old car that still ran fine. We'll drive this one until it dies and if we get a 2nd car, we'll pay less than $30k and will pay cash.

Cars are literally the last thing I'd spend money on.

You would spend money on hookers, blow, actual trash before you would spend money on a car? Literally?

Do you live in the DC area?

$240k hhi

We have a 2012 Prius V. Mainly because we wanted a station wagon and there weren't too many options. We drive about 7000 miles a year, do the gas savings aren't that spectacular for us. We're not car people.

DITTO! Ours is a 2006 with 140k on it. We also inherited a 10 yo Civic with 60k on it. We don't like spending money on cars. Terrible investment.

I think it's a pretty big pick up truck. That is a stupid choice for commute unless your commute is short. Shitty gas mileage

Those trucks are ridiculous for city driving. I hope your husband is hauling trailers around the ranch.

2013 Toyota Sienna Limited All Wheel Drive (family errand car)
2014 Ford F350 Platinum (Hubby commute car)
2013 Porsche Carrera 4S - date/fun car

Total sticker was about 225k altogether, paid in cash.

Wow, you're taking it in the shorts for an awful lot of depreciation (and maint. on the 911 long term).

I'm a car guy from way back, 200K HHI and ~$4M liquid assets:

2005 Toyota Matrix XRS (bought used/CPO, wife's daily driver, a little hot rod with that engine)
2005 Toyota Tacoma (wife's garden maint. business truck), bought used
2009 Subaru Outback Limited (bought new)
1973 Porsche 911 (bought from late friend's daughter in 1992 - an appreciating asset)

All paid in cash. I've been through the Saabs, Audis, M-Bs, Acuras, etc., and just don't think it's worth the outlay at this point, though I reserve the right to splurge on one new Porsche (probably a Cayman) before I croak.

Anyone who needs a Ford F350 Platinum to commute in and is not using it as a work/hauling truck, has some serious masculine identity deficiency issues. ;-o
