Thanks. We actually used a travel agent that specializes in all things Disney who got us bumped up to a lounge level room when the winter deals were released (we had booked in July). It was fabulous and we may be ruined for all future trips.
I do have to say that the convenience of the Contemporary was well worth it for us. It made leaving Magic Kingdom and coming back or visiting two parks in the same day SO easy. In addition, Oour daughter is frightened of loud noises and could not handle the fireworks in the park on the first night. After that, we just made sure we were back in our room in time to watch and she LOVED it. Honestly, we thought this would be one of only a few trips to Disney we take as a family but we all such a blast that we are trying to figure out how to save enough to go back sooner than later! |
| Which travel agent did you use, PP ? |
I am not comfortable posting her information but if you provide a temporary email address, I would be more than happy to send it to you!
|
| Not comfortable posting the name of a travel agent? Odd. |
Nothing odd about that. |
Are you serious? My last trip was Cayman, I just spent $6000 for four people for one week. |
| Rather easy to post "Amber at Blah Blah Travel Company." I'm not asking you to post an email or personal cell. Truly odd. |
Yeah, that was a bit odd. Travel agents would want the business. |
She is not out of a large company (more like an independent contractor) and is a friend of mine. Posting her contact info for all of the DCUM crazies seems wrong! |

We spend about $3,500 for a week now. Since we like to go a fair amount, we buy annual passes. We stay for 8 or 9 days, then return the following year a week or two before the pass expires for another 8 or 9 days. Ticket prices are front-loaded, and drop the more days you spend there. When we lived in Florida, we got Florida passes and it was a cheap vacation once we paid for those. We'd go up 4 or 5 times a year for long weekends. We had our car, we stayed either with friends in the area or cheap hotels along 192. IF you can drive, it cuts the cost of airfare and car rental, so that shaves about a grand off right there. So all you really need is the tickets (which are spendy), a place to stay (tons of cheap places in ORlando) and your food. |
Why not ask her? Most people I know want more business, not less. |
| Has anyone taken the autotrain down? We (DH, DD and I) want to go to FL next spring and combine a few days of disney with a visit with friends in West Palm Beach. |

We went a few years ago.
Drove down, found discount tickets. Stayed in a motel in Kissimmee Could not bring our own food into the park, so we left a cooler in the car. So for lunch we left the park to eat our food at the car and got in again for the same price. Did not spend any money at the park. Park hopper is a waste, especially if you arrive early and try and do every thing that is available at the park Our vacation was cheap compared to what the others here have spent. Maybe prices have gone up a lot |
I would rather stay home than vacation like that. |
Me too. That sounds like a miserable trip. |
