s/o can someone explain why I need to be concerned about 1 day unexcused absence?

Some schools require notes from a doctor in order for sick days to be excused. My kid had a couple unexcused absences on his report card last year for regular sick days. It really doesn't matter.

Also not exactly true, students must make a good faith effort. I have given many a student a 0 for the two sentences they turned in after being assigned an essay.

With that said...

Why should they be upset with you for trying to shorten your daughter's school year a single day?
