Dealing with two neighbors and their barking dogs

Shoot the dogs with a mixture of water and vegetable oil and a touch of vinegar in a water gun. Avoid their eyes.

The neighbors will not be happy with their vinaigrette pooches.

I like you so much.

Don't feel bad about calling animal control, OP. Those dogs shouldn't be outside at those hours, in these temperatures. They need better owners.

Buy this-

I don't know if it works, but I would def buy one of those for barking neighbor's dogs.

And if it doesn't work, call the cops.

What breed is it?

Totally agree. You are doing the dogs a favor, OP.

I had one, did not work.

The breed is irrelevant to OP's concerns. If the owners have a dog that barks nonstop then it should be inside. They probably let it out so they don't have to deal with the noise.

There's doggie daycare as well. Maybe offer to throw in a few bucks; it would be worth it in my opinion. I had this problem when I lived in Arlington so I feel your pain! I ended up moving, as it was a rental.

OP here. When my DH went to the neighbors behind our house last night at 10 pm he asked her about training, and she blew him off saying nope, that's just the way this breed is. WTF?????

And your neighbors' breed is called "wedontcare".

We are having the same problem. I'm thinking of buying some type of device that activates and sends out a displeasing noise when the dogs bark. People can't hear it.
Google bark deterrant.

In Fairfax County, just call the police non-emergency number and they will come.

Throw some chocolate in their yard. Just kidding.

Hehe, the first thing I thought about when I read the thread title was that Seinfeld episode, and then my eyes zoomed right in on "yadda yadda yadda" which is from another episode.

Elaine, is that you?

OP, I know how you feel. We have dogs, and we are very responsible and considerate about them. We would never leave them out at night, or when we leave the house.

To play Devil's Advocate for a moment, I would guess they do not like begin told what to do in their own yards, and probably have a problem with you complaining at this point. I don't think they will improve, sorry to say. This is an extremely prevalent problem.

Even if you move, you may run up against the same issue. It may be worse, with worse breeds, worse neighbors, whatever. IDK, maybe choose your battles. Are you the nosy neighbor, whine when it suits you type? Or are you the MYOB type? The latter always, always, always has more clout. No matter what the situation. After all, you really can not choose your neighbors, as much as you might try. You may have lost any clout with them at this point, by them seeing you as a complainer. They may see complainers as weak.

I don't think there is anything to talk about with them, really. I think worse case scenario, you could call the cops if it happens in the middle of the night. And I would not blame you. But the dogs may stop by the time the cops come. Do you want to be that neighbor? They will know it is you, of course.

It could be worse. Are you seeing things in proper perspective, really?

They will know it is you and you will easily be liable for any damages. Bad move, and extremely stupid.
