Terrible stuff.

I like it, but thanks. I'm not a wine aficionado so I go for cheap and accessible.

Nap here. This one is okay. Good for a hot summer barbecue. Light and refreshing with lime flavor and slightly fizzy finish.

I find the Hogue Riesling too sweet, never have gotten behind the Riesling kick, and I have found the Vino Verdes too light, but again, I know there are some good ones. You can often get some good deals by going to more obscure grapes or wine regions -- Italian whites (not pinot grigio), Spanish whites (not Albarino), white gascogne, and New Zealand Sauv blancs are still a pretty good deal though you have to like that grassy taste. No pinot grigio ever now, and most chardonnays under 10 will taste like an oak tree, but that might be your thing.

Good description of your taste. I bet you'd love this sauvignon blanc: http://www.navarrowine.com/shop/productdetail.php?prodid=1126
They also make a bone-dry Gewurtzstraminer--a pretty unusual find: http://www.navarrowine.com/shop/productdetail.php?prodid=1148

Navarro's one of our favorite wineries (Mendocino County). They don't sell it in stores; you can only get it by internet direct shipment. They're really good at Alsatian type wines, but we like their reds too. (Mostly pinots, but they also do grenache, mourverdre, and shiraz, which they deliberately call shiraz.) Sustainably farmed, reasonably priced, and delicious.

Speaking of obscure grapes, try some chenin blanc. Not that obscure, but a good value these days.

ESSAY and Matua

Matua is my everyday fave, with Starborough a close second -- Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is also lovely, and Trader Joe's often has it for $14.

Sancerre.

I love Sancerre but haven't found any bottles which would qualify as an everyday wine due to the prices. But maybe that says more about how much wine I drink rather than the affordability of the wine.

+1, it's about $10

Sancerre tends to be very overpriced. The great is sauvignon blanc so you can often find a French sauvignon blanc, so you can often find a cheaper sauv blanc of comparable quality. Vouvray, chenin blanc, can be good but I find them relatively weak at the $10 range.

Ferrari Carano - I think it's their fume Blanc. Can be had for approx $12 at total wine- much higher in retail stores.

Usually $12 at Rodmans!

Can't do Rieslings, too sweet. I used to like them and when I did I liked Loosen Bros Riesling but I bought a bottle a couple months ago and it tasted like juice. Couldn't drink it.

I LOVE Kim Crawford Sauvignon blanc- so sharp and crisp. I also really love Barboursville Pinot Grigio but Virginia wines get shit on a lot on these boards so I may stand alone there. South African Chenin Blancs are really tasty as well.

9:16 here just wanted to chime in I live the taste of Sancerre but a glass will give me a headache- only white that does that. Also it's about $18-$20 a bottle even at Wegmans so while not "expensive" it's more than I spend on a bottle to drink throughout the week (usually $10-$14).
