If looks weren't important, what would you do? What would you NOT do anymore?

I'd shave my head and stop shaving my legs.

However, I would continue to work out and eat well. My body feels so good being fit. I feel like shit when I eat like shit. Not worth it. I also want to live a long and full life and not have to drive around a electric cart at the grocery store.

I could retire tomorrow if I did not dye my hair and get mani pedis.

All of these sound so great...for about a week. Then, I would get so disgusted with myself that I would start shaving, plucking, exercising, etc.

I don't mean to sound holier than thou, but does anyone think this is sort of sad that our lives would be that different if looks weren't important?

How many are answering this from the perspective of "if looks weren't important to me" vs. "if looks werent important to society?"

I don't think looks are as important as so many on this thread seem to.

I always tell my kids that it is important to be well-groomed, but that's all. I was never beautiful, and yet I am happy, productive and very successful. Go figure.

Fried mozzarella sticks lady here. I guess I looked at the question as "what would you do, fashion or food wise, that's socially unacceptable?" I'm lucky enough to be genetically thin-normal, and I really enjoy healthy foods and being active. I have another 15 pounds of baby weight to shed and I rarely wear makeup and think I look just fine. I look better with makeup but want those three more minutes to sleep. But I just really like being comfortable and would be the crazy lady wearing a blanket to Target if it didn't matter. And eating way more cheese than I already do.

I'm already pretty low-maintenance. (I don't wear makeup every day, I rarely blow-dry my hair, I usually wear my glasses instead of contacts, and I'm fairly low-key in how I dress.) I would still exercise every day because I don't do that for looks, but for other reasons. I'd probably shave my legs less often in the winter and I'd probably never put in my contacts ever again, since I like my glasses anyway.
