Yes, and yet they have so much more character than today's cookie cutters.

Originally quoted poster here, and yeah you're not "breaking" anything to me. I get it. But my little place still has two fireplaces, beautiful wood floors with original inlays, arched doorways, built-ins, windows with muntins (just learned the word on another thread, thanks for that), crystal doorknobs, my "Letters" slot on the front door, and on and on. Over the decades they all have been changed a little here and a little there, and I love the variety of colors and details. These homes are full of family history. Once a woman whose grandparents were the first owners of my home came by and we chatted about her experiences in the house as a young child. It was fascinating.

My house was built in 1916. The things I find 'charming' and love to bits: hardwood floors, original non-painted wood doors/ frames/ windows, original glass decor in windows, pocket doors, wood columns in the dining room, wood stove, spiral staircase up to storage-only attic, original kitchen sink and clawfoot tub... I pretty much love everything about it.
