Crate and Barrel white china, circa 2005

It's hit or miss, but I often see great C&B sets at thrift stores.

Shopgoodwill.com. I look there for pieces for my MILs set

Resurrecting this thread one more time! Anyone ready to let go of their Anna china set? If yes I will take it off your hands. Our daughter just broke one of our low bowls last night and we are now in danger of an insufficient number of place settings for our holiday tradition (strangely, a soup recipe from the 40s).

I also feel your pain -

Boda Nova "Gourmet" flatware owner, also Crate and Barrel.

Why wouldn’t you get red of all of them and get a totally new set? If it’s plain white, it can’t be that special.

No can do, but we do have some multicolored nesting mixing bowls from the same era. One small chip in the red one but it could be viewed as adding charm.

But yeah, where so the teaspoons go? Are they with the missing socks?

NP. Wait, teaspoons? Our teaspoons multiply. I think they breed in the drawer. Why am I washing a thousand teaspoons a week?

But any form of decent cutting knife for cooking? Those vanish. This is why I won't buy high-end knives for cooking prep; they will escape my home somehow, like they're always plotting a prison break. (I know. We surely throw them in the trash accidentally despite my best efforts not to do so.)

My Crate & Barrel everyday china (wedding china, 1992, long discontinued) is of no help to you, alas, but I blatantly ask: Soup recipe please? I love retro recipes. Wish I could repay you with your Anna china.

There are two kinds of people in this world and you are the other one.

Crate and Barrel often just renames products that are also sold elsewhere. Is the manufacturer listed on the back? You might be able to find another line with the same clay body and glaze from that manufacturer that would match.

I have a nice one I got from Amazon. I can't remember the brand, but it's Japanese. I keep it in its box and when I got it I showed the knife and box to my husband and kids and said - "This is MY knife. None of you are allowed to touch it." I wash and dry it immediately after use and store it back in the box. This has worked so far.

Surprised an Amazon vendor hasn't produced an accurate dupe

Not PP, but when my now-5-year-old first started eating his own yogurt, he would throw away the foil top of the yogurt, and put the cup and the spoon in the sink, cup to be rinsed and recycled, spoon to be rinsed and go to the dishwasher. I think he ended up throwing away a LOT of spoons from our 1997 C&B pattern that I don't even remember the name of now. It was disco'd at least five years ago and I stocked up, but I think I may have to get a whole new stainless set.

My kid did this, and I suspect my husband tossed a few as well. I blame the plastic ware they use in schools and the habit of chucking it all in the bin. One year for Christmas, my mom bought me 12 (12!) additional place settings and doled them out to me as needed. Best gift I ever got.

Ah, but I think the culprit in the Great Knife Mystery is not my spouse or teen but...someone who looks exactly like me. Haven't lost one in a while, though.

+1

Is this it?
