Its called being a responsible parent. Good luck with the ergo. I'm sure the SS will consider it a backback and turn you around on your heels and get you back to where you came from.

Oh please. She can join me and my 6 y.o. on the mall by a jumbotron. We're not wearing heels, either. Go ahead and stay home in you want.

I would particularly appreciate follow up from the parents who are bringing their children. I would like to hear how much they actually enjoyed the event.

At first, we just knew we really wanted to go and figured although the 1 yr old might have a miserable day, maybe she would think it was cool to later be able to say she was there. But once I actually start thinking about the logistics, I have second thoughts. I just really want to feel the energy of the live crowd - but maybe I would not enjoy said "energy" with my tot in tow.

more worried about your tot being cold however i just read that the smithsonians will all be open to be a place to warm up but who knows how many people they can hold

I'll let you know. My 6 y.o. keeps telling me he really wants to go. Have fun in your living room.

Actually, I've got tickets. But I'm not taking children.

PP here. Though my 6 y.o. is Metro-savy and has been to crowded stuff before (marches, etc.), I will posit that I have presented tha issue as "Are you sure you want to try this? The weather could be awful/we could be standing a really long time/it may be hard to find a place to pee/the train will be nuts, etc." He's willing to give it a whirl. I'm willing to give it a whirl. I'm betting we will be no worse for wear, and probably glad we went.

put training pants on him just in case you can't get to a bathroom in time! good luck though - it will be fun - just wear lots of layers and drink and eat and poop before you go!

The porta-potties on the mall tomorrow should be dubbed party-poopers.

Second the pull up idea even for an older kid. Raisins and nuts in your pockets too. Have fun! What a great experience.

The "party-pooper" comment was intended purely as a pun that popped up when I saw "poop before you go". It was not meant as criticism. I guess I'm a poop-popped punster.

BTW, I did my crowd thing today, standing in the street outside Coolidge High for an hour, hoping to glimpse the big O. I got a camera phone shot of his limo.
