Have to be catholic to get in to Georgetown Prep ?

He likes the religion class and going to Mass. You should visit the school and make up your own mind. What I like the best about it is how relaxed the boys seem. I think it is certainly academic enough to get well prepared for college, but minus the angst at some other schools.

There have always been a few non-Catholics at Prep who aren't AAs or boarders from Asia.

Seems a strange choice with so many other alternatives where the boys don't have to attend the religious services of a church other than their own.

Most boys like to fit in with their peers. Filing up to the altar at Mass and refusing the host is not fitting in.

What a rude and obnoxious thing to say. You are one of the reasons some folks dislike Catholics. Its this attitude that sets people off. You need to re-evaulate your faith and God's teachings.

well said.

The PP poster is a hardliner from Prep. sounds like a very ignorant thing to say.

Oh, one more thing, the parents on this thread saying that they dont think Georgetown Prep has many non-Catholoic boys, or saying they cant imagine a non-Catholic wanting to attend because he wont fit in, its really obvious WHY you are spouting these nasty and untrue things:

You are worried your precious Catholic snowflake wont get in if too many slots are "taken" by deserving non-Catholic boys and that is pathetic.

Jewish athletes? Really?

LOL!!

Just so you understand your son will be in the minority and that the great majority of those who attend are from Catholic families that are actively practicing the religion. Mass is required. As will the parents that you meet.

The Prep boys largely hang out with or date girls from the Catholic girls schools.

There are probably other schools that are a better "fit".

It's true that non-Catholics are a minority at Prep. It is not true that the great majority of Prep families are actively practicing (attending mass at least once a week). To the contrary, Prep is considered "catholic lite" by some more devout Catholics.

Holton is the only single gender non-Catholic high school in MoCo, so every private boys school boy interacts with girls from the Catholic girls schools a lot. Plenty of non-Catholics at those schools too.

Landon is a non-catholic single gender school.

I grew up going to public and most guys from my school wanted to date girls from Catholic schools too. There is a reason for that....

Sure. They are generally better looking.

Seems like the Holton girls are pretty much aligned with the Landon boys.

Much like Prep, Gonzaga, Visitation and Stone Ridge are.

Because the Catholics do not allow those outside their faith to take Holy Communion, I do find it to he awkward as a non Catholic. Kind of like being an outsider. And I am married to a Catholic. But that's just me.

How about when you were 14? How badly did you want to do whatever anyone else did?
