Everyone gets a trophy right?

by your logic my non-AAP kid shouldn't be thrilled about getting straight As.

What an ass you are.

Is he dancing around saying he is gettng straight A's? different things and if that makes me an ass for pointing out htat the kid is playing below his talent level then yes I am an ass, he is not getting anything out of playing against lower level kids.

I'm not either of the quoted posters, but I think these are good points though. Any kid could play with kids below their level and stand out. It kinda sucks for the kids who are playing at their appropriate level. Especially if the "star" is showboating or doing a little too much celebrating. Sure, he should celebrate and be happy. Nothing wrong with what previous posters mentioned, fist pumping, high fiving teammates etc.

You're an ass because you made fun of these less athletic players and think lesser of their games.

So is the person (probably you) who called these kids losers. Pathetic.

No. I am the 'loser poster' not this person. Though I think the kid's behavior says more about his parents.

Agree with PPs - airplanes 3 times a game is obnoxious for a 9 year old. Save that kind of celebration for the winning goal, crazy bicycle kick, or otherwise distinictive goal.
Tell him to go find the kid who made the assist and high five him.

Signed,
Mom of two midfielders who rarely score, but often assist

He's king of the losers now.

Those who call 9-yo kids losers are the real losers, internet message board or not. Get a life.

Seriously. What decent person refers to a CHILD as a "loser"?

I would not be.

Discuss the difference between a celebration and gloating. Celebrating is ok if it is once in a while or the game winning goal. But doing it every single time is gloating. He also needs to remember he's on a team - his teammates help him score those goals.

You can have good sportsmanship and joy!

Exactly. It's called winning or doing well with class.

One of ds's coaches sat kids for over the top celebrations, no matter how good they were.

sounds good in theory, but how would anyone know if any goal is a winning goal at the time it goes in? there's no 'buzzer-beater' in soccer, yes?
