Of course it is. Are you one of those barbarians from Chicago, who thinks pizza should start with a dinner roll?

God, no. But I don't think bland cheese on something you fold is a delicious treat, either.

We've lived all over everywhere. Sorry Yankees, but the Southerners have you beat on delicious food in every possible category. It isn't even close.

And nothing beats Tennessee Bar-B-Que!

Some of y'all are completely delusional. Unless its a cheesesteak or pizza, there is no such thing as good northern food. Nothing beats good southern soul food!

Mmmmm, Ridgewood BBQ in west TN near the NC line is fan-frickin-tactic. Hard to find, though.

Lobster rolls. All things blueberry. Real maple syrup.

Ooo thanks for the tip. We drive through that way regularly on the way to visit relatives.

That's nice, but it lacks variety. You could not call it a cuisine.

Exactly. Maple syrup comes out of trees as-is. Northerners didn't invent it. It's not a dish that had to be created that is renowned, it's just a naturally good thing. You don't get to claim it.

Sorry- directionally challenged today. It's EAST Tn, not west. Duh.

Really? You just stick a spike in a tree, maple syrup comes out, and you put it right onto your pancakes? You're - well, let's just say confused. You may as well say that southerners didn't invent ribs - the pig did all the work, and "it's just a naturally good thing."

Southern cooking goes waaay beyond ribs, but northern doesn't go far beyond maple syrup.

PP had a point that the best definition of "Northern barbecue" would be bratwurst, grilled on a hibachi, turned with beer-soaked fingers, no utensils. Preferably in the parking lot of an historic ballpark.

This, or Italian sausage with peppers and onions.

Also agree with PP who said Italian food might be the only cuisine that Northerners do better. The best Italian food I can find in Virginia is in my own kitchen and I don't have a drop of Italian blood in me.

I'm a Northerner born and raised, but I'll readily admit the South wins any food-related contest. Heck, it's half the reason we moved here.

My friends from NY have a competitive BBQ team and did well enough that they decided to venture "South" and try their luck. They got their butts handed to them at the Annapolis BarBayCue contest, turned tail for the North and haven't been back since.

Really? As someone who has been to "Memphis in May" twice and Rendezvous numerous times, I'm sure they know the difference.
