Absolutely agree. I was cleaning my daughter's closet recently and have found a couple of her old Old Navy shirts. Night and day, compared to what they make and sell now! |

At Old Navy, they're not even $5 anymore. Even the t-shirts are more like $8-10, more for the licensed ones with characters. |
| Some Old Navy stuff is pretty good, but I've found that I need to go in person to find those good items - no way to tell online which t-shirts are thicker fabric or which pants have decent elastic. I agree with others that Crazy 8, Circo, and Jumping Beans are all good alternatives, and I find them to all fit pretty true to size. Kohl's always has coupons so Jumping Beans can be a really good deal. Target has a 4 for $18 deal right now on Circo stuff. |
| How is it that your preschooler "refuses" to wear thus and such brand? Who is the parent? |
| Lands End used to be good for quality fabric but they have declined resently. I've returned quite a few shirts and some dresses because the fabric was ridiculously thin. |

Mini Boden is crazy expensive, but we've found that the clothes last FOREVER. My DD has gone from a 2T to a 4T in other brands, but is still wearing the same 2-3yr shirts from Mini Boden that we bought her 18 months ago. And miraculously, they never seem to stain.
Otherwise, we've had great luck with Circo, the Target in-house brand. The clothes wear almost as well as stuff we've been given from Children's Place or even Gap. |
| We have a ton of hand-me-down LL Bean clothes that are on their 4th (in some cases 5th) boy. I would definitely recommend them! |
I used to like LL Bean for our kids too, but I think, like Lands End, this is another brand that has gone downhill. I have compared an LL Bean fleece sweater from a few years ago against the same fleece sweater (in a different size) bought last year, and the fleece on the new one is significantly thinner and flimsier than the same model sweater from a few years ago. I wonder if they changed their suppliers or something. |
| I buy most of my daughter's clothes from consignment shops, and each season I get her 2-3 items from either mini Boden or Tea when they have sales. She practically lived in 4 rompers this summer, and they have held up amazingly well. I'd rather spend a bit more on just a couple nice pieces, especially if they are better quality and can be passed on to her sister or cousins. |
I've found that half the Boden stuff is made in Portugal, the rest in Asia. The Portugal stuff holds up better, but can't tell which it is when you order. |
Are preschoolers choosy when it comes to brands? What does my future hold in a couple of years, when my DC gets there?
|
| Hanna Anderson, boden and tea and llbean ( though their stuff isn't as cute) lasts forever. For the toddler years, I loved old navy but my big 4yr old dd has outgrown it and the older girls stuff is horrible with logos, glitz and way too tweeny for my taste. Why can't that stuff be cute too? |
No. My kids wear what I buy. Around age 6/7, they have more of a say. But, I still get final vote. |
