OP, from your three or so posts, it's clear that your poor finances are just a symptom. The real problem is that your husband is a douchebag. But hey - at least he's a douchebag who makes a handsome living! So you got that goin' for you - which is nice. |
It is very sad to wait to get inheritances from your parents and mean while burning your $500K HHI without using your brain. |
They're both total assholes. Match made in heaven. Negative cash flow on 500k! Amazing. |
Only $100K? Good grief. You do realize that the majority of households in DC live on less than that? |
If this is true, then why did you post? Nothing will change if you don't sell your home. God, you're stupid. |
|
Let's say your husband pockets $350K/year after taxes. Monthly mortgage on 1.6 million should be about $10/k with taxes and PMI and a rate of 4.8 (just a guess).
So your husband takes home ~29K/month and you pay out ~10k for the mortgage. You are spending more than ~19K a month???? What do you buy? |
Your husband's an asswipe. When he drops dead of a heart attack you'll lose the house anyway and be forced to put the kids in public school.l |
| Why so much CC debt? Does your DH have an addiction to acquiring more stuff? |
Why would she have a nanny if she doesn't work? |
+1 |
Because lots of other families with $2M upper NW homes and $500K+ HHIs do. As I said, just a guess. OP hasn't denied it either. |

"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen [pounds] nineteen [shillings] and six [pence], result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."
--Charles Dickens |
That's laudable for you. I couldn't personally live in what would be a $350,000 house in this area. I'd rather have the money tied up in a $2 million house and sell it when I retire than leave in a $350,000 house. |
Well, this wins the douchiest post award. Congratulations, princess! (Or maybe it's OP's husband?) |
You do realize that we bought that $350,000 house some time ago, because I said it's paid off, right? Why didn't you ask me what that $350,000 house is worth today? Either you are reading too fast or your analytical skills suck. |
