| LOVE this! Yes! |
My tax dollars being misspent IS my business. |
| It is not just about babysitting. I know someone from FCPS who moved to DC to go to Stuart Hobson. She said the education at her FCPS school was horrible and that SH was much better. She is now attending a DCPS high school. She was not a minority. |
That's interesting. I always imagined the core population of residency cheaters was very close-in PG county residents with bad inbounds options. You know, Ward 9. |
| Seriously, posting the residency fraud hotline sign is a great idea. First, it lets people know that there is such a thing. I think people who aren't immersed in the day-to-day experience think of an abstract "gee, it's not hurting anyone" kind of crime, when in fact of course it's hurting all of the DC kids who could othewise take the spots paid for with DC taxes thta are otherwise filled with non-DC kids. Posting the sign also sends the message to the lawbreakers that the school takes the issue seriously, and might make them think about making different arrangements sooner rather than later. |
Boring troll from 1992 is boring. |
if they are residents of DC no, if they are residents of MD or VA yes. |
I'm not the PP you're responding to, but my answer is: that depends... Do the illegal immigrants live in DC and how would I know they were illegal? I don't know what the laws are on illegal immigrants attending DC public schools, only non- DC residents. So for now, if you live in DC, you're cool with me and I see no broken rule to report, whether you're legally in the ZUS or not. However if you do not live in DC, then I'm reporting you no matter who you are. |
it might as well be. as a DC resident it is absolutely my own business that non DC residents pay tuition if their kids are enrolled in DCPS or DC Charters (and are put at the end of any waitlist after all DC kids obviously) |
X 1000 It IS my business when people steal from my DC resident kids who struggle to get into the schools we want them to attend. There's enough competition within DC - no way are residency cheaters to think they can get in on it without a fight. And the reporting this year will definitely be up from last year! |
| completely agree. |

| Many illegal immigrants use other people's social security numbers so they ARE actually paying taxes sometimes. |
