Do you believe in Satan?

God created faith.

Satan created organized religion so we could fight over faith.

But then who created God? Is it possible we have it backwards, and that Satan created God?

If there is a God, then there is a Satan. Fortunately, there's no evidence whatsoever for the existence of either. And if they did exist, they would have no possible way of influencing the material world. So you can sleep peacefully.

The greatest trick that God ever played was convincing the world that He does exist.

I agree, do not believe there is any particular horned-headed anti-god creature who is the lord of darkness and has domain over a place called Hell however, i do know people have the potential of being evil and at one time or another most of us have been so. However, there are extreme cases where certain individuals are sadistically and pathologically evil. These people seem to have all of the cruel, dishonest and manipulative behaviors one would to believe to be akin to being Satan incarnate.

PP - here again. The people I describe above are not insane or suffer from some kind of mental illness. They are individuals who are calculating and purposeful in the planning and execution of their offenses against others.

The idea that satanic exist as outside forces to confuse and subvert people is a myth perpetuated by those who seek to control the minds of others for their own ends. Evil exists internally, initiated within the confines of the deranged human mind. Life can be cruel but it is of our own making here on the planet.

Practicing evil is a source power, strength and control for inadequate people.

I BELIEVE THIS 1000%
I have been posting in the Joyce Meyer thread.
This is exactly what I believe .
I think God is just looking at us shaking his head .

I realize most people believe in god, but reading these posts shocks me anyway. I have a hard time understanding how a logical adult can believe in some evil boogeyman who has designs on humanity.

Different shades of gray, no absolute evil or absolute good

Yes, I believe in Satan. Satan is what I called Congress because they've made life a living Hell for Americans.

I don't disagree with this, but it's an answer that belongs in the Politics forum, not the Religion forum. However, I assume several of us go back and forth, so that's just a comment, not an objection. Besides, while Church and State are supposed to be separate, there's no way religion and politics can be.

I don't believe in Satan. Or God. Or ghosts, spirits or dreams that predict the future. Or mediums or fortune tellers or astrology.

I really don't get people who do.

Think about it --- people believed in and studied that stuff for many thousands of years, and how we lived was not very much changed until the end of the middle ages. In the short time since, we've completely transformed human life, our life expectancy and our ability to conquer disease and live much more easily. Life now (with all of its faults) is easier, longer, more influenced by education, healthier, freer, less violent and more fair than ever before.

We've done this through science. Science and superstition don't really co-exist, much as some superstitious people would like to believe that they do. Life after death is fundamentally incompatible with everything we know about chemistry, physics and biology. so are ghosts, mediums, Satan and God. All that stuff is an intellectual blind alley -- it is not reality. Why do people find it so hard to just live in reality?
