I really don't get people who do.

Think about it --- people believed in and studied that stuff for many thousands of years, and how we lived was not very much changed until the end of the middle ages.  In the short time since, we've completely transformed human life, our life expectancy and our ability to conquer disease and live much more easily.  Life now (with all of its faults) is easier, longer, more influenced by education, healthier, freer, less violent and more fair than ever before.

We've done this through science.  Science and superstition don't really co-exist, much as some superstitious people would like to believe that they do.   Life after death is fundamentally incompatible with everything we know about chemistry, physics and biology.  so are ghosts, mediums, Satan and God.  All that stuff is an intellectual blind alley -- it is not reality.  Why do people find it so hard to just live in reality?[/quote]
