teacher assignments

We have 21 in our K class at a MoCo focus school. There are five classes right now and about 103 students. However, they told us at parents' night that they mig be adding a sixth class once they are sure of the final numbers, which would take it down to 17 or 18 per class.

In private, my daughter had 30. Had she stayed in private, she'd be in a class of 31.

tough times . . .

You just have to learn how to deal.

How does that work once the school year starts? Do they just rearrange all the kids? It would seem a little hard once the K kids are already used to their current teacher. Just curious because they said we were close to the numbers of needing another K teacher and I wondered if we had some later enrollment what they would do.

They would take some kids from each K class and make a new class if their numbers get to high. A friend had her kindergartner do that halfway through last school year. Our school hired a new kindergarten teacher on Thursday, so all the classes were reassigned the day before open house. Several walk-in registrants came in during the open house as well. K classes were at 21 and put down to 16. We get lower class sizes for title1.

So school starts tomorrow and I have no idea what teachers my children have. We have been traveling and was hoping to find something in the mail when we returned yesterday, and nothing.

That's okay. Tell them to see their counselor or home room teacher ASAP. They will help them. A lot of kids forget to bring their schedules or lock them in a locker. We are prepared for this kind of stuff.
