I hate those big pieces.

I will go one step further and ask teachers to encourage kids to not bring home every piece of art. Teach kids its ok to recycle the pieces they don't love.

I disagree. Recycling of art projects should be done at home.

I don't want a bunch of junk pictures brought home.

Recycle it at school.

Really? You would rather have parents complaining about the quality of instruction or your classroom management instead of appreciating the substance of what you do and making an admittedly superficial request? Incredible.

I'm not the PP but this is not a superficial request, actually just a request. And if it can't be done, it can't be done.

Tired of the "I am a teacher, I am God attitude". Get over yourselves. We, as parents, have the right to be disappointed sometimes in your teaching and the curriculum, especially when, in FFX Cty, my kid comes home with run-off worksheets that often make no sense and instructions on some projects from the teachers with spelling and other errors. Do I point it out? No. Because I know you are human. But you are NOT God.

Get off your high horse, lady. Your comment has zero to do with the size of paper, which by the way is not significant. A teacher will use whatever paper is available for a project...if you want special sizes, do the art at home; if you want to frame an odd sized school project, go to Michael's. Ridiculous.

What is one person's junk is another person's treasures. The moment a teacher recycles at school I guarantee there will be a parent screaming about something not coming home.

Yes, you are alone in this complaint. How about scanning the work and then sizing it to your Target frames?

The teacher using larger paper that is developmentally appropriate for young children. You should be thanking him/her for helping your child to use appropriate materials to express himself/herself in a way that results in artwork worthy of being framed. It may not be convenient for you, but it is necessary.

Then keep them at school. I don't want a junkload of papers at the end of the day.

OK - I get it for the K-2 grades, but really why does a 3-6 grader need LARGE paper???
Anonymous
Because it encourages creativity! In my Teaching Elem. Art class, the professor emphasized that it is the "process" not the "product" that counts with the kids.

Umm, really OP? This is your biggest concern? Not an overcrowded classroom, not slashed budgets , but picture frame? Go to Dollar stores and buy yourself a dozen of them.

First off, op's original post should be directed at art teachers as most elementary teachers I know do not have time for cute drawings..... Second, OP, are you serious with this post?

Just curios. Where in the post did OP indicate that this is her biggest concern, or even a big one? Where did OP indicate that he or she doesn't volunteer to help at school? Some of these reactions are over the top. Sure this may be a small or even petty concern, but the reactions seem similarly outsized to me.
