Our contractor is the most down to earth wonderful guy. He will not paint with Behr. He says it is just too tough to work with. He uses SW normally but prefers BM, if you want to spring the xtra for it. |
I think the premise of the Behr champions here is fundamentally wrong:
Consumer Reports doesn't know anything about paints. |
If you think that's the reason why the pros recommend going to a paint store, you are not familiar with professional painters' forums or who writes in them and reads them. I'd suggest you educate yourself a bit better. |
keep telling yourself that. |
As a home-owner and long-time user of Benjamin Moore paint, I will. Thanks! |
We've used Behr - it drips and doesn't cover as well. If you catch SW on one of the monthly sales (even better if it's a 30-40% off sale) - the price is pretty good. I wouldn't buy it unless it's on sale. If I know I have a painting project coming up but haven't choosen my colors, I'll buy the paint untinted during the sale and get them tinted later when I'm ready. We really like the Harmony or Home Duration lines. BM has a better selection of colors, but I've been happy with how SW mixes the BM colors. |
We have had excellent results with the new behy ultra premium , it is a little thick er than the old formula and didn't drip |
BM has a better color selection but Behr is supposed to be excellent quality. I used it for a small project so I can't really comment.
C2 by BM is awful - expensive and just painful to use because you need to do so many coats. Duron is awful even if Sherwin Wllliams is the owner. I would use SW paint but never Duron. We have a property with all Duron paint and colors are always discontinued and they can no longer color match. Paint is just bad quality too. |
You are all idiots |
Are you doing the painting?
I've used all of the brands. I never noticed any difference between sherwin williams and Behr. But I do with BM (not in final look, but in application). I am a horrible painter (impatient, not the best hand/eye coordination). BM is more forgiving. It doesn't streak as much. It is also faster since you don't need as am nay coats. It seems more resilient to me (we have a roomba and when we had Behr on the baseboards they scuffed quickly, with the BM not as much). Another nice thing about BM is you can order it online and then just pop in and pick it up. |
Consumerreports was raring microwaves the week before and razors the week after. |
For a kids room look into the super low VOC and non toxic options. We ended up using Safecoat instead of BM aura as it's less toxiC (aura is no voc but still had toxins in it). It went up great in two coats over primer. No drips. |
We recently painted our entire interior and we bought the paint and had painters do the work. At first we bought behr ultra for one room because of price. Then we got a good deal at SW and liked the colors there for the rest of the rooms so got the rest there. The painter showed us how much better the SW paint covered. It was a big difference. |
I only use sherwin Williams paint now, and I get their top of the line paint which I believe is emerald. It's definitely the best paint I have ever used, and I have used Ralph Lauren, Martha Stewart, Glidden, and Behr Ultra. I think it's better quality than the other paints I've used. Application was easy, it dried quickly and didn't smell ... And best of all .. My walls have a really nice glow. I have never tried BM paints.
Sw is expensive. I wait to buy my paint when there is a sale, if I can. If I can't wait, I use my contractors' discount. I second the other poster who said pros do not ever use paint from the big box stores. I have had the same experience. I will add that most pros do not also buy plumbing material or fixtures and gutter material from places like Home Depot.. |
