co-ed non-religious private

St. Andrews
St Stephens St Agnes School

The area is lacking a coed school that is top notch in both academics AND athletics. You kind of get one or the other, or a school focused on the arts. No one one school has the full package. The closest to that ideal would be, IMHO, Potomac and, as their athletics improve, Maret.

Most families who want the best academics and best athletics combined tend to go with the Cathedral single sex schools as they do have somewhat frequent cross interactions in high school.

Was there a poll taken of school preferences among "families who want the best academic and best athletic combined"? They missed us, I guess. BTW, we didn't pick the Cathedral schools.

Even the schools themselves don't claim to be "the best" - it is all about fit. BUT uber competitive parents who obsess about being "the best" are the reason girls at NCS are such a mess.

What about Sandy Spring Friends?

As is Sidwell, which is on the list.

This area is blessed with great private schools - there really is a good fit for anyone if you are willing to travel a bit.

I took that poll. It asked me what kind of academics I wanted and I selected "mediocre", for athletics I chose "lousy".
