co-ed non-religious private

If I embezzle from my wealthy employer to pay for the private school education that will make a positive difference in the life of my dear child am I a good person?

I'm a regular church-goer and Sunday School teacher who believes that an atheist can have a moral code that is not based on religious doctrine. I also believe that there are plenty of people who go to church or other worship services regularly who violate the doctrinally-based moral code they profess to believe.

Me again -- forgot to say that I'm not sure there is an afterlife, but, if so, PP you will certainly go to that circle of hell reserved for solipsitic, baiting DCUM posters.

In addition to Maret, Sidwell and GDS, the only coed high schools within the DC metro are:

Bullis
Potomac
Field
Burke
McLean

The others, affiliated with a protestant religion, albeit mostly just in name, similarly to Sidwell, are:

St. Andrews
St Stephens St Agnes School

The area is lacking a coed school that is top notch in both academics AND athletics. You kind of get one or the other, or a school focused on the arts. No one one school has the full package. The closest to that ideal would be, IMHO, Potomac and, as their athletics improve, Maret.

Most families who want the best academics and best athletics combined tend to go with the Cathedral single sex schools as they do have somewhat frequent cross interactions in high school.

Come on, it is not really a DC school. It does not fit in with the ones noted above. I live in NWDC and my kids are in two separate privates. I know at least a few families at all the schools named above. I know no one at Sandy Springs, have no idea where it is and know nothing about it. I am sure if I asked 50 of my acquaintances and crimes
None of them would either. It is not a "DC private"

Oh, WIS should though certainly be added to the list!

Well, how very fortunate for us that you and your "50 acquaintances and crimes" have the time to review and give your seal of approval to the ultimate DCUM list of DC privates!

OP asked about DC and Maryland. Sandy Spring certainly qualifies.

We have had a really great experience with being in a K-8. Middle school years are tough, and it gives the students the opportunity to grow and develop in a nurturing environment without the influence of the older high school students.

Norwood, Sheridan, Lowell, Green Acres are the K-8's that come to mind.

I'm the one who wrote that Sandy Springs is Quaker, but it is a fabulous school and totally qualifies. I live in DC and know people with kids there.

But then you're not one of PP's "50 acquaintances and crimes", right? So, I'm afraid your opinion does not count.

You should add WIS to your list - it's coed, non-religious and located in NWDC.

How is Sandy Springs "not really a private?!" I think it is!!!
(As do many people.)
