IF you are a slave to your hair, how do you handle pool time in the summer w/kids?

+1 I laugh when I see the done-up moms like this. Who are they kidding, and where do they think they are: the Ritz?

I do the hat thing if I'm only at the pool on a weekend, but if I'm going to be in everyday I just get it wet and wear it in braids. (And yes, I'm over 40, but its the only thing that keeps it under control, so I don't care what you all think.)

Braid or DevaCurl method.

I have same problem OP so I give up the dryer in the summer. I wear my hair in a high bun with headband and it works great. Way too hot to bother with the dryer and I have more time in the morning. Also braid hair wet before bed and gives me more waves and less frizz in the morning. DH loves that look, says it looks like i just had a romp in bed. Love that!!

haha, it's so funny. I can't imagine the time spent on getting ready to go the pool I just make sure, I'm shaved/waxed and my bathing suit fits

COCONUT OIL!!

Twice a week saturate your hair with it and rinse out after 2 hrs or keep it on overnight. It's a really good conditioner for the hair and you will notice the difference immediately.

I have naturally curly hair that's more wavy in some spots, but I have trouble getting volume at my roots. If I use this, will it weigh my hair down even more?

NP but were you the one with the pleated K-Mart Bermuda shorts and dollar-store flip-flops?

I have extremely thick and very curly hair. I rock the bun all summer for several reasons. Wearing it curly all the time leads to horrible tangles for me, so I braid it every night and put it up in the mornings and since it's so humid, I don't even try to straighten it.

People at the Ritz aren't dolled up either...they look just as frumpy as the local pool set (not judging, I'm rocking the frump too).

I slick it all back and put it into an updo/bun. Otherwise, it's outta control!

Stop fighting your curly hair and get a short cut that can be air dryed. There are great stylists in DC that can do this for you.

i've tried this a few times and thought I looked awful each time. Maybe I need to get used to it. Just think it's not flattering...

Have just ended up letting the layers grow out and drying it only every few days/once a week.

I have crazy hair too. This week I'm getting the Brazilian blow out which should temporarily solve the problem.

Or AA women go the other way, like me and get a weave to protect their hair. I swim and exercise regularly in mine. It's changed my life and is allowing me to grow out the chemicals in my hair.

I have coarse, curly long thick hair and I wash it, use deep conditioner then slap some Terax Crema on after rinsing the deep conditioner out. I then comb it through with a little Phytodefrisant, wrap it in a sock bun and head to the pool. This prevents my color from turning green and keeps my hair from getting that summer fried ragged look.
I also do my best to stay away from kids doing cannonballs.
