Gifted Program and/or skipping a grade at Taylor Elementary? Should we go private?

My twin and I skipped 3rd grade and we did fine- had lots of friends, were social, did many sports, and still graduated top of our class. But, had we stayed in our grade, we would've had a fairly average birthday so when we skipped, we were young, but not overly young, if that makes sense.

That was a while back- plus you had your twin as support.. I don't think this is a proper comparison. I agree with many PPS that assessing someone in preK is way too early. My eldest was reading 2nd grade level in preK (and superior math etc.) but there is no reason to do a grade jump this early. I would have never agreed if this had been suggested (and frankly- a suggestion like this is so unusual- plus preK teachers are not I'd say on the cutting edge of teaching and public/gifted etc.
