Blackballing in Private/Independent Schools

It depends upon the disagreement. Oddly, if it is large they will be happy to see you go, and even help you on your way. If it is small, they may make an effort to keep you. If it is an elite school with a waitlist they will be happy to help you leave. The ones that give the most trouble (that I know of) are those who are having financial troubles -- which are not the elite schools.

I work at a private school and many teacher rec forms have a "Rate the relationship with parents" box. If they are PITA I do not hide it.
