I live in the District but certainly like Old Town Alexandria. It has many cool restaurants too, doesn't it? Enjoy.

I love Rasika but wouldn't consider it a casual dining restaurant, but then again my HHI is < $250,000, so YMMV.

I like places like Meridian Pint, The Heights, and Shaw Tavern, but I'm looking to branch out. Any suggestions?

These two thoughts are completely inconsistent. You can require good food, or you can like The Heights. You cannot do both. Please pick one, so we'll be able to accurately advise you.

Urk. I hope this was in jest. Did you miss the part about good food being a must?

A quote from the just-released Washington Post Spring Dining Guide:

"Cross the Cheesecake Factory with Taco Bell — then throw in spring break — and what you get is this sprawling zoo of a destination in Dupont Circle that feeds an average of 1,400 customers a day."

Any time a restaurant is compared to the Cheesecake Factory AND Taco Bell in the same review - that ain't good.

Seriously, there's good eatin' in Old Town. The Cathal Armstrong empire alone is a big draw.

Am I the only one who thinks this place is seriously overrated?

No I've never understood its rave reviews either

It's great if you've got a big group with diverse tastes, or for brunch. Everything is good. But not great. And it's big and bustly, not the kind of place you'd want to make a regular hangout.

I actually can't stand their salads. The famous sliders always seem to be dry. Pizza is average. I'm just not sure what I'm missing with this place.
My kids beg to go here, my husband hates it though.

OP here. This is funny. You really don't like it? It's not amazing or anything, but I liked it because it had enough variety on the menu, it used to be walking distance from my place, and I loved that they had outdoor seating.

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations!

I'm 2 blocks from it now, and I will only go if dragged kicking and screaming. It's terrible, and there are so many other good options in walking distance.
