Lifetime in Reston

Anonymous
I went and checked out the Reston Lifetime now that's it's open. It's pretty much identical to Sterling. Newer equipment, but same layout. It's nice but no way worth the $260 fro a couple & 2 kids. If they could get it to $130-140 I'd do it but it's insane now.... It's just not twice as nice as Sterling and triple Sport & health....

They've seen the light! It's now a recepical club with all the other lifetimes.... Membership is now 110 per month. Still high but in the realm of reasonable for what it is...

Have you seen the place?? It's amazing!!! It's open from 4AM - midnight. It's huge, it has everything you could want in a club. You could practically live at the place. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it, but for my money it's a good value.

I just wanted to chime in and say I joined the Lifetime in Rockville over the summer after moving from SS where I had a WSC membership. I had a hard time justifying the increase in my monthly gym cost from $62 (WSC) to $95 but now that it's been a few months I don't have any regrets. There are classes every day of the week at convenient times for me (5:30 or 6:30 a.m. or 7:30 p.m.) to the point where I think I'm spending $3/class and the classes are terrific. So if you can afford it they make it worth it. Although yeah, $230/month was sounding ridiculous. I only pay for myself, my DH doesn't belong, and my kids are old enough that I don't need the childcare.

The other lifetimes are open 24-7

Having been to both of them I'd say the sterling one is a bit nicer.

Not sure why the are not open 24 hours like the cheaper ones.....

Nice. Does that mean that Reston has been lowered to Onyx? Or, that we (loudoun) have been upgraded to diamond? I look fwd to checking out Lifetime Fitness Reston now. My co-worker mentioned it was a bad idea to charge $130ish in Reston because condo dwellers pay $300-$600 condo fees which usually comes with well equipped gym, sauna, and pool, not to mention pool and table tennis tables and guests are free to use those facilities as well. I think he got it right. Reston has high income folks, but they have many options and lifetime has much bigger competition in Reston. Office gyms, small gyms, condo gyms, YMCA, affordable Herndon Town facilities etc. LTM has exclusive spots in Loudoun and Centreville and more people own cars in these places than Reston. I think Reston may not be their most profitable spot as they were hoping it would be, they would've been better of in McLean/Tyson's area.

No, they haven't changed the club levels and they're saying that this change is just temporary. But I'm betting that it'll become permanent.

They are scrambling, they realize they screwed up. Onyx is a catch-all category. You can be a Onyx member at a diamond club indefinitely and just pay less....
