Wooton vs Whittman vs Richard Montgomery

It's not violent. It's not Ballou or Dunbar. Maybe a little rougher than Whitman, but not "violent".

I have a rising RM 9th grader with lots of friends 1 year up. I hear lots of RM stories. Not all are exactly what a mom would like to hear..but none are violent.

RM is obviously a great school with much to offer but if you can afford Whitman, you should move there. Whitman is a much better crowd. Nothing against RM and its crowd but there is a reason why the put the IB there and not at Whitman or Churchill.

"better" is defined as??? The IB program has been there for about 30 years..pre-King Farm, Falls Grove, Traville Square...etc

Better always means higher SES parents. That is all.

You can make all the stupid comments you would like ut it will not change the facts that the overall experience at Whitman including sports, academics, social, etc. Talk to graduates from both school over the past two decades and you will understand.

So everybody has a better overall experience at a school where the parents are predominantly rich and white or Asian? OK.

Yes, if you are rich and white. But not if you are poor.

They are all great schools. All have their own issues. Whitman is probably the best HS in MoCo. You can't go wrong with any of them.

You will enjoy Whitman if you want your kids having Harvard like pressure from Day 1.

I am an RM IB graduate from just under two decades ago. I need to decide on a school district for my own kids, so right now I am also facing the RM vs W school decision. I find it hard to believe that Whitman has better extracurriculars or academics for this reason: The lit mag, newspaper, It's Academic, mock trial, etc. all depend on the students in them--and there were any number of brilliant people in my IB class. I just don't see how you can get a comparable collection of students without having a magnet and drawing talent from around the county. Even at Whitman. I could be wrong; I would be interested in hearing whether that is the case.

When comparing Whitman vs. RM overall I'm sure Whitman wins in every respect, but when comparing Whitman vs. IB (and really, IB is a school within a school) I'd think IB would be much nicer.

At Whitman, your kids are guaranteed to find a parent who is willing to throw parties with alcohol for their teens and their friends.

Maybe this was already asked, but why aren't WJ and Churchill in the mix too? The 3 high schools op named are not typically grouped together. More people I know sould be comparing BCC, WJ and Whitman, or Wooton, Churchill and RM, for examples. Whitman and Wooton and the neighborhoods feeding i tk each are really far away from one another!
