Not saying you shouldn't ask, or that you shouldn't have a home theater, just saying it's unusual here. And makes me curious where you're posting from.

Correct me if I'm wrong other DCUMs.

DC resident here. There are some huge houses with home theaters - among other extraneous rooms - in McLean, Great Falls and Potomac. And those are just house that I have actually been in.

You need new friends, DC resident. I've been in a larger home theater in Spring Valley, with a popcorn machine and candy bar on the side and everything. It's not just in the burbs.

You're welcom.

I tried google and came up with nothing. Can you show me a link.
thanks

That is because I just made it up. I thought people would lap it up. I am giving you guys permission to make it a reality.

Who knows, in 10 years time their absence in a house could be a "deal-breaker".

but in my dream world where I have a home theater it would be pack full of floor pillows and have a comfy sectional - all of which would be moved around so we could camp in there on our virtual camping trip (I could even put a virtual mountain and creek scene up on the screen!)

Enjoy!

+1 stadium seating seems so isolating and commercial, not homey at all. No chance to curl up, snuggle and watch a movie.

Our AV guys said that a sectional would be the best and to not waste money on tiered theater seating.

Anyone have pros and cons? Any first hand experience?

I have tiered theatre seating. Pros is that it looks great, each seat reclines, and there are places to put your drinks for all. Cons is that we can only seat 12. We have two levels in our room, so there are six seats on each level. There is floor room on the front if I want to put down big pillows though.

If you go with acoustic fabric on the walls, don't let your cats in there if you have any. Mine would climb the walls and relish in walking on the ceiling. Pretty funny, but can destroy things quickly.

Classy is insulting people's SUVs and discussing 'walkability'?

16:29 posting. I live in the burbs and most that put in home theaters want them out! Teens would rather a large room with a couple of sofas , a pool table etc. We saw houses in DC that could have had a 20x20 home theatre room.

For all you know OP is a major film buff. S/he didn't ask for advice on whether to build a home theater room, for gods sake. Why does everyone here always feel the need to second guess OPs and offer unsolicited advice (particularly if the question in any way suggests that the OP has $$)?

Because this area is full of those that judge others for their choices - especially if that choice is to 'have things'. Was treated like crap once by a very old friend who had moved to the area. We had dinner. She went on and on about how people who choose to make money and don't spend it 'her' way are the scum of the earth. BTW, Karen, if you are on this forum? Might I suggest you take care of your physical appearance?

My post was simply about everyone I know who has the dedicated home theatre room regrets it.
