Why is it interesting? Seems obvious that parents WANT their DC's to receive high GBRS if they are being screened for AAP. |
I'm pretty sure the poster means that parents whose kids get 13+ believe the GBRS system is wonderful, fairly applied, scientifically sounds; whereas, parents whose kids get 9- believe the GBRS system screwed-up, too subjective, having no sound basis in fact. Of course, this requires me to read the post and deduce the underlying meaning . . . something so many on this board seem unable or unwilling to do (or maybe there's just one poster who keeps responding to posts with these innane literalist comments). |
Exactly. If you get the number you think little snow flake "deserves" it's a great system. Unfortunately, most of the teachers have little time/experience/training to give anything more a few casual observation plus it's skewed by parent involved thru classroom moms/helpers lobbying at every instance for their child. |
| Fortunately, many teachers have more than enough time/experience/training to give a thoughtful observation of their students. And since at least three teachers contribute to the GBRS, it is very unlikely to be skewed any sort of parent lobbying. |
+1 In addition, all AARTs are trained in developing and scoring the GBRS with Commentary. |
No. |
Yes, and they all take that training and apply it competently and uniformly, with no variations in quality that affect those being evaluated.
|
Profound analysis. Thank you. (Can you deduce my underlying meaning????) |
Of course, teachers are not perfect. None of us are. But, most teachers do take that training and apply it competently and uniformly most of the time. And that's the best we can expect of fellow human beings. The fact at least three trained and experienced educators write the GBRS for each child helps to balance out the imperfections inherent in all of us. A newer teacher can learn from a more experienced teacher, one educator may have seen a side of the child the others had not: the collaborative process helps to form a fuller picture of the child and his or her needs. |
| I was also amazed by my DS' score - 13. And this is a child with dyslexia and ADHD. Go figure! |
Our schools says GBRS is not available yet. My DC's NNAT was 99 and COGAT 89. Is there any chance? Hoping GBRS will be good as he was already pulled in some classes by school AAP and quarterly reports have been good. But who knows. Praying
|
He will be in! My daughter got in last year with lower scores. In your case NNAT is awesome and AAP teacher me told me they assign higher weight to NNAT score. |
The AAP teacher is incorrect. |
That's weird - it should be complete by now. It's not that the GBRS is unavailable because its not done. It's because the GBRS is unavailable to give to you - they are holding the file. I would call the Central Office to confirm if what the school is saying could be true. |
False and this is likely a troll. To PP, Your DC will get on based on a strong GBRS. Good luck. |
