When you visit an open house...

Using the toilet??? Um, when you gotta go, you gotta go. I'm sure you would prefer that I let my 3yo use your toilet rather than let her pee on your floor. I wait until I get home, but my child does not have that sort of control yet. We've toured so many houses now that I even carry tissues with me because many of the vacant homes have no toilet paper in them.

I have also changed my 1yo's diaper in houses I've toured, but the dirty diaper always leaves with me.

NP here. From what I read the problem wasn't using the toilet. The problem was not asking first, then using the toilet and leaving the lid up, then leaving the hand towel in the sink. The point is that when you are at an Open House, you should try to leave the house in as close to the same condition as when you arrived. That's just basic courtesy.

Guess you didn't go house hunting with poopy kids then....twice even. ok.

I have gone house hunting with poopy kids. I keep empty gallon ziploc bags in the diaper bag along with the diapers for occasions like this or to dump dirty clothes if I have to change the baby's clothes or any number of other messy events. If I'm changing diapers somewhere where there aren't normally babies and/or the trash may not be picked up same day, then I will deposit the diapers in ziploc bags and toss them out either at a business where the trash is emptied at least once a day (e.g. a restaurant) or at home where we take care of the poopy diapers regularly. If I were to go to an open house and change a dirty diaper, I would probably ask the realtor if they are going to take out the X trash (usually kitchen trash, since the kitchen is where they put cookies, snacks, etc for an open house) and if they are, I'd dump it there or take it with me. I can't imagine leaving a poopy diaper in someone else's house, especially in a side room like the rec room where the trash may not be changed for several days. That's just really obnoxious.

No I don't think it's okay. I think the open house agent is disproportionately upset about it though. And I'm not a cranky buyer. I'm a satisfied buyer who just moved into her dream house, using no agents on either side. Could not have gone more smoothly. I have no use for whiny fat cat agents.

Or maybe you did not use an agent because no agent with work with a smug little twit like you

We have four children. We are currently house hunting and sometimes do end up taking them with us. It would never cross my mind to change one of my children at an Open House or any house we go to see. It just would not be an option for me. I would wait a few minutes or go out to the car, do it, and come back. Seriously. That is just nuts.

It's too cold now to change in the car.

No. It's really not. Unless you are joining us from Alaska or the likes?

Not PP but we did. Just because your kid is poopy doesn't mean you have to leave the poopy diaper in someone else's fucking house. Get your shit together, literally.

But they provided a trash can. It's not like I left it in the basement or anything.

I left it hanging over the Take Off Your Shoes sign.

It's was below or near freezing this past weekend. Add windchill. There is no space to change DC in car unless we use the trunk.

I'm going to make it a point to go to every open house in the VA and DC area this weekend and turn off EVERY light and close EVERY door!

I might need to start a spinoff thread about people who change diapers on the go and leave poop around willy-nilly. But in the meantime:

Are you dense? Ever hear of turning the engine on?
Step 1: turn engine on; warm up car
Step 2: place infant on seat while you are standing outside the car or kneeling on the seat on the opposite side of the car
Step 3: change diaper
Step 4: leave poopy diaper on top of car or in trunk while you do your business
Step 5: return to car and drive until you find a trash can that is OUTSIDE to throw away poopy diaper

Wow, why? The OP's initial post seemed nice and it was not something I would have thought of - I do have the habit of turning off lights when I leave rooms. If you hate agents this much maybe you shouldn't attend open houses at all.

Do you have to tell everyone you can't afford the house by acting like a complete slob? Really?

What does one thing have to do with the other? I know plenty of rich slobs.

I don't know any slobs with money. Anyone I know with money respects themselves enough to respect others.

Its the frustrated ones who think they are left behind who act out.

Really? You don't know any people with large, expensive, messy houses? I know several.
