OP here. He only has a diagnosis of ADHD. No psychiatrist will diagnose him with SPD because they said it's not in the DSM. His OT has diagnosed him with SPD. The first time we applied for an IEP it was rejected. The second time we got the diagnosis and a letter of need from a psychiatrist and then it was approved. They did not accept the letter of need from his OT saying he has SPD also. So that's why I didn't mention it.

But honestly, ADHD can be severe enough that a 504 may be insufficient. For my child a 504 helped for math, reading, lang arts, but not science and social studies.

The teacher said the reason he does well in math, reading, and lang arts is because these are skill based subjects whereas science and social studies require memorization of facts and learning in a larger group environment, which he struggles with.
