| Maury for preK is a possibility, but not for preschool |
It is Burroughs Brookland @ Bunker Hill If you rank them in this order, you will in all likelihood end up at Burroughs and everything below it wiped off the waitlists. Will your child be happy there? Have you visited? |
And you really would rather have Miner than Montessori at Logan? |

Capitol Hill Montessori at Logan Peabody Miner Tyler SI JO Wilson |
| Yes why Miner before Burroughs given that you're in Brookland? |

We're in the boundaries of Seaton, but probably going to try the following for our preschooler:
Garrison Thomson Francis Stevens Cleveland Spanish Seaton We figure we'll get into Seaton and be waitlisted at the rest, but if we get into the other programs we'd be happy. |

These are our picks for PK. We are currently enrolled at a good charter, but would really like the option of dual language:
Oyster Adams Cleveland - Dual Language Lafayette Marie Reed - Dual Language Logan SWS |

Middle School -- IB for Stuart-Hobson
Deal (why bother but who knows) Hardy McKinley Tech (seems to have middle school now?) Francis-Stevens Charter Cap City Latin EL Haynes 2 Rivers |
| Why do so many people overlook Hyde and possible Hardy? I am not sure how Hardy is doing after its period of troubles, but Hyde was always a great little elementary school in the heart of Georgetown. It had significant OOB when my kid was there. Has that changed? |
We're in the opposite position -- in a decent (for EOP) PS program and applying for Charter PKs. Curious if you'll ultimately leave your charter or not as we're 70% certain we won't change even if we get into one of the 'highly desirable' charters. I'd think any of us would be biased toward the system/community we know vs. the one we don't. |
I'm the PP and it would take a lot to leave our current charter. I just want to keep our options open - the location of our current school is not permanent, and there are just several factors that could make another school more desirable. We feel really fortunate to have a guaranteed good option, and I agree that we're very inclined to stick with what's been working rather than try out an unknown. I kind of doubt we'll get into anything, but I figure it can't hurt to throw our hat into the mix! |
No non sibling OOB (or maybe any OOB) accepted for PK last year at Hyde. |
| is the lottery for Charters open already? when can I apply? I thought only the one for DCPS is open now |
| to the PP: There is no universal charter school lottery as there is for DSCP. There is a 'lottery' for available spaces and wait list order for each school with a common deadline that almost all follow (March 15), but you have to apply to schools individually. Most charters have online applications. |
